Avengers: Doomsday is no longer simply a rumor, but rather something that has been officially announced as a Marvel movie, which will be taking place within Phase 6, and Dr. Doom is literally the problem that needs to be dealt with! Marvel Studios’ announcement at Comic Con 2024 included that Avengers: Doomsday will take place on December 18, 2026, and will feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

The most popular fan theory, proposed, is that the first overarching MCU action of Doom could very well be to target the super-powered kids. The narrative of the Avengers had a dynamic shift depending on the evolving mythology in the MCU, which is what this fan theory articulates with a sharp focus.

Doom no longer represents any kind of ideological threat, but the Avengers: Doomsday trope has a very specific position regarding this character, stating that it might be Doom who manages to collect the super-babies or childlike anchor entities whose presence holds together broken worlds.

This is based on the trailer action itself that each one of us has experienced, the post-credit scenes, and the comic books, primarily Secret Wars (2015) and Infamous Iron Man. These are the origins of such an opinion.

The origins of the Avengers: Doomsday super-babies theory

The Avengers: Doomsday theory is based on recent MCU content observation rather than speculation. The trailers and post-credits scenes of Fantastic Four: First Steps prominently show kids with super-soldier or cosmic-level powers.

A major example cited is Franklin Richards, who interacted with Doctor Doom in the early footage. In Marvel Comics, Franklin is a mutant who can warp reality, and he is capable of making and sustaining universes. His inclusion is considered deliberate rather than accidental.

The theory states that these children are anchor beings who stabilize their realities. This is similar to Wolverine’s role in Deadpool & Wolverine (Earth-10005). In this concept, Doom wants not to conquer randomly but to control multiversal survival.

Why Doctor Doom would target super-powered children

In this theory, Doctor Doom would be most interested in children who carry the primary power of their timelines. The following are examples of such children:

Franklin Richards (Fantastic Four)

Love, the adopted daughter of Thor, who is the volume of Eternity’s cosmic energies

A multiversal child of Steve Rogers, as suggested by his appearances in different realities

According to ScreenRant, Doom's plan might consist of taking these essential beings out of their universes and putting in their places beings that he can easily control or “puppets.”

Doing so would let him not only thwart incursions but also set himself up as the one who brought multiversal order before Avengers: Secret Wars. This interpretation is strongly in line with Doom’s comic history, especially his transformation into God Emperor Doom during Secret Wars (2015).

Trailer and post-credits evidence supporting the theory

This theory, unlike more general Avengers ones, is greatly dependent on visual evidence. The recurring imagery of children being placed next to legendary heroes is the main reason for their argument:

Thor protects Love through the period of cosmic instability.

Steve Rogers is depicted with a child in a different reality.

Franklin Richards is portrayed in events involving Doom and high-tech.

The continued use of these images through different projects indicates a storyline rather than chance. Marvel has, to a greater extent, been showcasing young characters at their transitions, thus revealing their gradual narrative importance over time.

How this theory reframes Doctor Doom’s MCU introduction

The presence of Doom within the early stages of the MCU may not have been as significant as it appeared to be. The second theory states that the character of Doom in the movie Fantastic Four: First Steps may be an alternate or a distraction to avoid revealing his actual intentions until Avengers: Doomsday.

It’s a twist where the audience would know that Doom is coming after the superheroes with powers in children, only to reveal that it’s all a component of a much larger plan to control the multiverse. It would be like reading an evil comic character silently manipulating the situation until he was ready to reveal his power.

Connections to existing MCU children and young heroes

The theory is not limited to three main youthful superheroes and could very well include other small characters that are part of the MCU already:

  1. T’Challa II
  2. Skaar
  3. Billy and Tommy Maximoff (Wiccan and Speed)
  4. Cassie Lang
  5. Kamala Khan
  6. Kate Bishop
  7. Morgan Stark

While the theory does not assert that Doom is after all of them, it does indicate that Marvel is intentionally filling the MCU with kids that might become powerful players just before Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

The theory, what it does and what it does not claim

Significantly, the theory of the Avengers: Doomsday super-babies is still just speculation. It does not assert:

Marvel Studios has authenticated Doom's precise plan

All MCU kids are anchor beings

Doom's ethical concern or moral conflict is a reason for his conduct

On the contrary, the theory believes that Doom's actions are motivated by the need for good strategy and personal ambition, which is in line with his comic depiction.

The Avengers' multiversal arc

The multiverse storyline of the Avengers is becoming increasingly about the struggle between universes, the convergence of realities, and the disparity of power. Within such a context, the idea about Doom's assembly of anchor beings appears to present a pragmatic, albeit harsh, solution.

Theory does not show the morality of the issue in the Avengers: Doomsday in terms of whether or not to save the kids, but rather that the entire situation is just a strategy for the development of Battleworld, a fictional place with Doom as the ruler.

The Avengers: Doomsday super-babies theory is a concentrated, trailer-supported view of how Doctor Doom could be a multiversal threat and thus enter the MCU. By relying upon anchor characters like Franklin Richards and Love, it merges visual proof with traditional comic stories that lead into Secret Wars.

Though not validated, the theory is in line with Marvel's recent narrative trends and Doom's canonical aspirations. Even if it doesn't come to pass visually, it still validates a very clear scenario of how Doomsday could redefine the MCU's ultimate battle.
