Will Dr. Strange be a part of Avengers: Doomsday or not? Marvel Cinematic Universe's fans thought that the question was definitely answered when Benedict Cumberbatch's name was not on one of the chairs in the cast announcement, or when Cumberbatch himself revealed in a conversation with Entertainment Weekly that Strange was taking a hiatus from the next one.
However, all of the confirmation just got thrown into the wind when Cumberbatch decided to backtrack on his words in a recent interaction with Business Insider at the Sundance Film Festival, during the premiere of his new film, The Thing With Feathers.
Keep reading to find out exactly what Cumberbatch revealed about Dr. Strange's appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.
Will Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange be a part of Avengers: Doomsday? Here's what we know

The Marvel team is extremely vigilant when it comes to ensuring that no spoilers are released before their projects officially premiere. This team even got the loose-lipped Tom Holland to keep the secret regarding the appearance of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home hidden.
When the Avengers: Doomsday cast list was announced, including Robert Downey Jr., known for playing Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, returning as the villainous Dr. Doom, along with several other notable actors such as Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, and Sebastian Stan, it was a surprise that Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Dr. Steven Strange, was not on the list.
Many assumed Dr. Strange's addition to the film was being kept a secret. However, when Benedict Cumberbatch himself revealed that he wouldn't be a part of Avengers: Doomsday, it was nothing less than a spoiler in the Marvel community, but it was accepted.

Cumberbatch, however, has thrown that certainty for a loop in his latest conversation with Business Insider, when he said that:
"I got that wrong, I am in the next one."
When questioned more about this statement, since the non-disclosure agreements that these actors sign with Marvel had to be stronger than such a reveal, he went on to add teasingly:
"Don't ever believe anything I say."
The Internet thought they were certain about at least one thing when it came to Avengers: Doomsday—the absence of Dr. Strange. But Cumberbatch's comments just threw that certainty to the wind, and the mystery is back on.
One thing's for sure, however tantalizing these spoilers or non-spoilers might be, they do manage to elicit the most satisfying results when we're kept in complete darkness. So, there's no certainty whether Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange will be a part of Avengers: Doomsday or not, but if he is, the comic storylines might just have him working against the Avengers this time.
This exciting yet mysterious storyline in the comics, where Dr. Strange actually works against the Avengers and in favor of Doom for a higher multiverse-saving goal, might be the reason why Marvel is choosing to keep the involvement a secret, so for the sake of our catharsis, we might just have to let them.
