Billy Crystal among first to arrive after Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead, report says

Billy Crystal was reportedly alerted by Rob Reiner's daughter, Romy, and was one of the first to reach the scene following the discovery of Rob and Michele Reiner's deaths, per TMZ.

Billy reached Rob's Brentwood house with his wife, Janice Crystal. Billy and Crystal were pretty close and have worked together on a number of projects, which include This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, and When Harry Met Sally.

According to People, Larry David also reached the scene soon after he was told about the situation. However, the two reached the location individually.

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed in a stabbing. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested in connection with their deaths.

When did Billy Crystal and Rob Reiner first meet?

Billy Crystal and Rob Reiner first reportedly met in 1975 on the set of All in the Family. In the drama, Crystal played the role of Reiner's best friend.

Crystal told The Hollywood Reporter that he admired Rob for being so friendly, smart, and funny, as well as a talented actor.

Speaking of how they became close, he revealed asking Rob:

"It feels right onstage, why don’t we just continue this in our lives?"

He further continued talking about their bond, saying:

"I don’t know of any other director at the time who had the scope he had and the ability to pull off all the different genres he did. He’s daring, and he doesn’t repeat himself. He has a great sense of humor but also a wonderful heart, and he tries to accomplish things that have social importance, too."

As of now, Billy Crystal has not officially said anything on Rob's death. However, multiple outlets reported that he was seen mourning the loss of his friend after arriving at the scene.

The news was also announced by Rob's family, who released a statement that read:

"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."

Rob Reiner's daughter, Tracy, in a reported statement to NBC, said:

"I came from the greatest family ever. I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock."

The deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner are currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
