Orlando Bloom recently spoke about the possibility of Pirates of the Caribbean 6 in the near future. The 48-year-old star is currently busy promoting his latest buddy comedy film Deep Cover, which also stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Nick Mohammed.
For the same reason, he joined his co-stars for an interview with ITV's This Morning chat show. After speaking about their Prime Video project, the interviewer asked Bloom about the possibility of a sixth Pirates movie. Here's what he said:
“There’s been all kinds of things. Who knows? There’s been talk [of a sixth movie]. I can’t say anything at the moment, because I really don’t know. I think they’re trying to work out what it would all look like.”
He further added:
“I personally think it would be great to get the band back together. I think that would be great. But there are always different ideas, so we’ll see where it lands."
Bloom's comments do not offer any concrete details about whether the project will happen or not or when it will commence. He notes that there has been some chatter about Pirates of the Caribbean 6, but he doesn't know anything more about it. However, he seems interested in joining his castmates for another adventure and the fans may just be open to this idea as well.
At this moment, he notes that different ideas are floating around but nothing has been finalized yet. So, his comments offer no new information at this point in time.
Will there be Pirates of the Caribbean 6? Here's what we know

There haven't been any confirmed reports about Pirates of the Caribbean 6 cast, characters, writer, director, or release date as of yet. It's not clear whether a sixth chapter of this Johnny Depp-led adventure franchise will ever see the light of the day. However, in 2024, producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Comicbook.com:
“It’s hard to tell. You don’t know, you really don’t know. You don’t know how they come together. You just don’t know. Because with Top Gun you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he does before he does Top Gun, I can’t tell you. But we’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”
Bruckheimer's comments shared hope for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, but these plans have been in discussion reportedly since 2019. There was also a point when Chornobyl and The Last of Us creator Craig Mazin reportedly pitched a script for a franchise installment. Back in August 2023, he told the Los Angeles Times:
“We pitched it and thought there’s no way they’re buying it, it’s too weird. And they did! And then we wrote a fantastic script and the strike happened and everyone’s waiting around.”
Unfortunately, Johnny Depp isn't too keen on returning according to his comments during his infamous legal trial with his former wife. He said:
"There was a deep and distinct sense of feeling betrayed by the people that I've worked hard for. People that I delivered a character to that they initially despised, but I stuck to my guns with the character, and it seemed to work."
As a result, we will need to wait for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 to see the light of the day.
