Avengers: Doomsday will be the first subseries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reach a fifth film. Until now, three subseries, Captain America, Thor, and Spider-Man, have made it to four films. The latest, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is currently being filmed.

There are ongoing rumors online about Thor 5, but no confirmation has been made. Chris Hemsworth’s latest comment suggests he himself is uncertain about another Thor film.

As of now, Thor: Ragnarok (2017) is currently the best movie in the MCU subseries, with an impressive 93% score at the review aggregator platform Rotten Tomatoes. The other films, Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), and Thor: Love and Thunder, hold a 77%, 67%, and 63% RT score, respectively.

The Thor actor was in a conversation with BBC recently where he was asked about Thor 5. To that, took Avengers: Doomsday into account and said the following:

"I don’t know. We’ll see where this one goes. We are unpacking that as we speak, and figuring out where each of these characters goes. I’m just thankful for being involved with this one at Marvel, back together with a lot of the old cast, and then the new cast. It’s something I certainly love. We’ll see what happens."

This suggests that the actor is unsure about the future of the subseries, but it doesn’t mean he won’t return to the MCU. In fact, he has said he is open to playing the character again.

A few months ago, he posted a YouTube video titled Thank You! The Legacy of Thor, which some fans interpreted as a farewell. However, he later clarified in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that this was not his intent, saying, "It was certainly not the intent."

Hemsworth's Thor Odinson will be next seen in Avengers: Doomsday, which has an impressive lineup revealed earlier this year. Alongside him, several actors return, including Robert Downey Jr., whose character was killed in Avengers: Endgame and will reappear as Doctor Doom.

There are a lot of theories churning about Avengers: Doomsday and the characters who are about to appear in the upcoming movie. One of these theories includes Rune King Thor, a version of the character who sacrifices his life in order to gain this status and is too powerful to handle.

If this version of Thor is introduced in Avengers: Doomsday, we may get another Thor movie where he continues his adventures with new superpowers.

The chances of this increase when considering Avengers: Infinity War, where he worked to bring a more powerful weapon to defeat the then-new threat, Thanos, portrayed by Josh Brolin.
