Coroner reportedly reveals Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's cause of death

Kelly Clarkson's former husband, Brandon Blackstock's cause of death, has been unveiled.

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the talent manager succumbed to cancer, though new reports from the Silver Bow County coroner indicate that it was melanoma, to be exact. He had reportedly been struggling with skin cancer for three years until he died on August 7 at the age of 48. He was under hospice care at the time, surrounded by his loved ones.

Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis told People magazine that Blackstock "passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana, on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family." Dan told The Hollywood Reporter that “The cause of death was melanoma; the manner of death was natural."

As reported by Men's Journal, a representative for the Blackstock family told CNN:

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time."

The New York Post has reported that melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer, and it is also known as "black tumor." It claims the lives of about 8,000 Americans annually, the outlet published, citing two experts.

The news of Reba McEntire's former stepson's demise came just after his former wife, Kelly Clarkson, announced that she would be halting her Las Vegas residency. At the time, the songstress, with whom he shared two kids, cited Blackstock's ailing health:

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she penned on Instagram at the time. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding.”

The pair shared a daughter named River, born in 2014, and a son, Remington, born in 2016. According to CNN, Brandon Blackstock was the son of Narvel Blackstock, a talent manager in his own right. His clients reportedly included Blake Shelton and Carly Pearce.
