Der Tiger, internationally known as The Tiger, ends on an ambiguous note. The team ends up meeting Colonel von Hardenburg, who had gone rogue. After meeting him, the team is unsure whether to capture him or not. During their journey, all of them consume drugs, which makes them hallucinate things.

The film leaves its ending deliberately ambiguous, inviting the audience to draw their own conclusions. Although the makers have not confirmed a sequel, the conclusion does leave room for several intriguing possibilities. The same team might not appear in a possible sequel. It can focus on a new team in a different timeline.

While the film takes place during the Second World War, a sequel can have another war in the backdrop. It might focus on a new set of soldiers going on a different mission. The makers can also tell the same story through a different perspective. A sequel to Der Tiger should continue the thematic idea of how war takes its psychological toll on soldiers.

The film's cast members include,

  • André Hennicke as Lieutenant Colonel Krebs
  • Samuel Himal as Fritz
  • Leonard Kunz as Helmut
  • Tilman Strauss as Paul von Hardenburg
  • Yoran Leicher as Michel
  • Alzbeta Mala as Marion
  • Sebastian Urzendowsky as Keilig
  • Laurence Rupp as Christian Weller
  • David Schutter as Philip Gerkens
  • Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey as Löffler

Der Tiger is produced by Marco Beckmann, Dan Maag, and Frank Kusche, while Patrick Zorer and Stephanie Schettler-Kohler are the executive producers. The film is shot by Carlo Jelavic, with editing handled by Benjamin Kaubisch. Heiko Maile has composed the music. The film is the first German title backed by Amazon MGM Studios to get a local theatrical release.

Before its release, director Dennis Gansel issued a statement.

“I am overjoyed that Der Tiger will see the light of the big screen. This commitment to the quality of our film from Amazon MGM Studios and CineStar makes me, the entire cast, and crew very proud.”

Philip Pratt, who heads German content in Amazon MGM Studios, said:

“‘Der Tiger’ will be our first German Original that we’re bringing to the big screen. When Dennis Gansel and producer Frank Kusche first presented the idea to us, we immediately knew we had to make it. This special film deserves the biggest stage."

It will be released on Amazon Prime Video on January 2, 2026.
