Now You See Me's card thrower and voice mimicker, Jack Wilder, has a wild dream about the future of the franchise. Dave Franco, who plays the character in the franchise, recently told Screen Rant that he wants to see one of the characters become a villain in the upcoming movies.
He says,
"I want to see one of the core characters become the villain and maybe see some faces from the first two movies come back."
This will be a wild turn of events, but not surprising given the nature of the story. We can't simply say. Initially, Morgan Freeman's Thaddeus Bradley was supposed to be the main villain, but look how things played out. No one deduced pop-up as the grandmaster of the Eye.
As of now, we are awaiting the third film in the franchise, which is scheduled to arrive on November 14, 2025. Rosamund Pike is playing the main antagonist in it, Veronika Vanderberg.
Who among the core characters can become the villain in the future Now You See Me films?

We have many candidates for this: Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher), Jack Wilder himself, Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), and more. But one character (whose name you might already have guessed) is the top contender for the next Now You See Me villain. It's Jesse Eisenberg's J. Daniel Atlas.
He is the only character in the Now You See Me franchise to come up as a full-fledged villain. His arrogance is one quality that gives him the fuel to be the antagonist fans might want to see. Atlas also isn't a character we can associate with morality.
Not just the arrogance and the belief that he is the most genius person out there, but he doesn't even have a sense of care for others. He is a total control freak.
In case this turns out to be true, then he is likely to become the best villain in the franchise. Things will also become more personal and challenging for the Now You See Me protagonists. And more interesting too.
What if Dave Franco is giving us a hint about the future?
Although Dave Franco's sentiment appears like he desires to see something like this happening in the franchise's future, what if this is a hint?
It might be that one of the core characters has already gone rogue, and we might see them appearing as the main antagonist in the fourth film, which is currently in development. We don't have a plot for it now.
A mid- or end-credits scene could end up being in the third one to set the stage for the next magical ride.
However, seeing the Four Horsemen and other main characters associated with them is a delight and what makes the story fulfilling. That said, no matter how big and arrogant J. Daniel Atlas is, he is still one character that's fun to see in action.
Accept it or not, that illusionist has some style.
