Influencer Candace Owens is making headlines after French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte filed a defamation lawsuit against her on July 23, 2025, in the United States.
The lawsuit centred on Owens’ public claims that Brigitte was born male. According to a report in the BBC, a conspiracy theory that has been doing the rounds for years alleges that Mrs. Macron was born under the name of “Jean-Michel Trogneux,” the name of her older brother, which has been thoroughly debunked.
Candace Owens has been involved in several high-profile scandals earlier as well. Now, a screenshot of a tweet allegedly shared by Owens in 2020 has resurfaced, which claims that she admitted that her husband cheated on her with her brother.
However, the tweet features fabricated content, according to a report in Snopes. The fact-checkers revealed that they found no evidence that the message was actually posted by Candace Owens.
Moreover, the articles that centred around it didn’t provide a link to the alleged tweet. Thus, the claims of her husband’s infidelity are false.
More details on the fabricated tweet.
How did the alleged Candace Owens infidelity tweet emerge?
The tweet, which claims to be posted by Candace Owens, where she allegedly claimed that her husband cheated on her with her brother, emerged after Owens reportedly called out Cardi B for her Grammy performance on WAP. The two got involved in a Twitter feud, as per a report in the Business Insider.
On her appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight in 2021, Owens said that the performance was "an attack on American values." She further added that the performers were "actively trying to make children aspire to things that are grotesque."

After exchanging several tweets, Cardi B posted a doctored screenshot of a tweet allegedly posted by Candace Owens that read:
“Yes, my husband did cheat on me with my brother. Yes, he said no when I asked to join them.”
The screenshot, which went viral, was eventually proven fake by Snopes. They reported that no evidence was discovered related to the deleted tweet. They added that when a tweet is shared on Twitter (now known as X), it generates a unique URL.
Even if the tweet is deleted, people can find traces of deleted messages via these now-broken URLs. But, they found no such links in Owens’ case.
The US Sun reported that Candace Owens sued the rapper for posting a fake tweet and slammed her for slandering her brother, referring to him as a private citizen. She shared a tweet, which said:
“FYI I DO have a brother, a private citizen, who you are slandering right now with this photoshopped image that you are now publicly claiming you saw tweeted in real life. You want to admit you lied now, or get sued so I can expose you as a liar? I win either way.”
Eventually, Cardi B deleted the tweets that caused trouble between the two, as per the reports. Additionally, no lawsuit was filed by Owens despite her threats to the singer.
