Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas is in the news following his arrest for allegedly operating an illegal poker ring at a Los Angeles mansion owned by him. He is reportedly charged along with five other defendants.

This incident has reignited fans' interest in his unpredictable behaviour, prompting them to recall past incidents, including his 2016 break-in. A user on X shared a post on July 30, 2025, where they wrote:

“Remember when Gilbert arenas broke into Nick young’s crib lmao.”

During the alleged incident, Gilbert Arenas reportedly documented himself as he broke into Nick Young’s house. Arenas and Young share a close but complex friendship. Arenas recorded himself hopping the gate of Young’s house without his permission, mocked him for his breakup with Iggy Azalea, filmed his actions, and posted them on his Snapchat.

Nick Young reacts to former NBA player Gilbert Arenas’ arrest

Nick Young, also known as Swaggy P, has recently reacted to former NBA player Gilbert Arenas' arrest. He took to his Instagram account on July 30, 2025, and captioned his video as “Free [Gilbert Arenas].” Tagging him in his post, he said playfully:

“My brother is an idiot y’all. We gonna change the show from Gil's Arena to Swaggy's Arena.”

He added:

“Whatever they say he did... he did that sh*t might as well tell like DLo.”

Many of his fans took to the comments section to express their support for him. While others criticized him for his calm reaction to Arenas’ arrest on “serious federal charges.” A user took to Reddit and wrote:

“If you're ever arrested and charged by federal prosecutors, please please take it seriously. There are no "joke" charges to federal investigators.”

He added:

“It might seem like a joke since gambling is legal in most states, but the feds have sent people to prison for years for this sort of thing. The fact it involves known organized crime operatives makes it 10 times worse for everyone involved. Gil is in trouble, and he's already making it worse.”

In January this year, Gilbert Arenas shared on his podcast, Gil’s Arena, that the former Los Angeles Lakers played a significant role in his firing as head coach of the Big 3 team, Enemies. According to a report in Sports Illustrated, he said:

“I didn’t make a couple tournaments, because my kids had some games. This motherf**** [Young] had me fired!"

Young jokingly responded to him, defending himself and claiming that he saved the team. The two share a brotherly connection since they had been teammates on the Washington Wizards. They are widely known for their playful camaraderie on social media and podcasts.

In one of his No Chill Gil episodes, Arenas discussed Young’s athletic talent. He recalled that during their time on the field, Young showed brilliance as a player but lacked mental discipline like Kobe Bryant. He said:

“He can score his midrange which is pure. He's just dumb like a box of rocks like c'mon man, his name is Swaggy P. There's nothing in his name that got a P in it.

Swaggy P’s recent hilarious reaction to Arenas’ arrest is another example of their love-hate relationship.
