Terry Gene Bollea, famously known as Hulk Hogan, once endorsed Barack Obama before he became a MAGA supporter.
ABC News reported that Hogan once endorsed Barack Obama in the 2008 U.S. presidential election. However, in 2011, he had “a change of heart”. During the same year in October, he appeared on an episode of Fox and Friends, which was aired by Fox News, and said:
“I was a big Obama supporter and kinda, like, believed everything he said he was gonna do. But now that nothing’s happened.”
He added that he had a change of heart and was “a little upset” as Obama used his theme song, Real American without his consent, to make his entrance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Hogan eventually turned to support his longtime friend, President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that his friendship with Trump dates back decades. He first voted for him during the 2016 presidential elections, but didn’t publicly endorse him until 2024.

What motivated Hulk Hogan to become a MAGA supporter?
Hulk Hogan became a vocal MAGA supporter following an assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2024. Hogan tried to stay out of politics, but after witnessing the incident, he was compelled to speak out.
In November 2024, Hogan ripped off his shirt while giving a fiery speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. He said:
“As an entertainer, I try to stay out of politics. But after everything that’s happened to our country over the past four years, and everything that happened last weekend, I can no longer stay silent. Let Trumpmania run wild, brother! Let Trumpmania rule again! Let Trumpmania make America great again!”

He continued:
“I've been in the ring with some of the biggest, some of the baddest dudes on the planet. I know tough guys, but let me tell you something, brother, Donald Trump is the toughest of them all.”
He concluded his speech by addressing Trump as “a real American hero”.
According to a report in The Sun, Hogan first met Trump in 1987, during a wrestling event at Trump Plaza Hotel. In an episode of the PBD podcast, Hogan praised Trump for his humble and friendly behavior. Recalling their first meeting, he said:
"He came to the back, met all the wrestlers, just sat down, started talking to us. He's the same guy now that he was back then; he hasn't changed a bit. He's just a really quality person."
Mourning the loss of Hogan’s death, Trump shared a tribute on TruthSocial. He wrote:
“We lost a great friend today, the 'Hulkster.' Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week.”
He continued:
“He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!”
Tributes have been pouring in from celebrities, and Hogan’s friends and fans following his demise.
