James Gunn might have revealed the next Wonder Woman. The DC head honcho is currently gearing up for the release of his superhero film Superman. The film, which will mark the beginning of the DC Universe, will be released on July 11, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures. Here is the official synopsis as per IMDb:

"Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned."

Gunn recently mentioned which actor would be fit to portray Wonder Woman. Let us find out what exactly he said.

James Gunn feels Adria Arjona would be fit to play Wonder Woman

James Gunn recently gave an interview to Extra, where he might have revealed the actor who will play Wonder Woman. He named Adria Arjona and said that she would be a perfect fit to play the Amazonian superhero:

“I follow Adria on Instagram, but everybody came out [and thought], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman.' She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way. She was in a movie that I made seven years ago. We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time. I followed her then, I didn’t just follow her.”

Arjona had played the role of Leandra Florez in the 2016 horror film The Belko Experiment, which Gunn had written. Last month, James Gunn revealed that they are working on the script of a Wonder Woman film. He said that it's "being written right now."

Gunn's response might surprise audiences because other actresses' names have been floating on the internet to play Wonder Woman. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, Superman will kickstart Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, which is a part of the DCU. James Gunn has written, directed, and co-produced the film, and it's the second reboot of the Superman franchise. David Corenswet is playing the role of Clark Kent, aka Superman. Its cast members also include:

  • Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor
  • Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane
  • Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt aka Mister Terrific
  • Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason aka Metamorpho
  • Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner aka Green Lantern
  • Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl

The DCU will consist of several forthcoming films, including Supergirl and Clayface, that will be released on June 26 and September 11, 2026, respectively.

Speaking to EW, James Gunn revealed how he narrowed in on directing Superman.

"All three things that are now coming out were already in process before I took over at DC. I was already hired to write Superman, I was already working on Creature Commandos, and I already had a deal to do Peacemaker season 2. The thing is that the priorities of what was up first changed. Because I was already writing Superman...he's one of the three biggest characters at DC, one of the most important characters in all of Warner Bros.' catalog, but was also really the figurehead of DC in a lot of ways because he's the first ever superhero."

Superman will be released on July 11, 2025.
