Young Thug has received a lot of backlash following his jailhouse phone conversation leaks. These leaks have exposed Young Thug’s thoughts about Gunna, Future’s parenting, his issues with Drake, and Glorilla’s attractiveness.
In an exclusive interview with TMZ, popular online personality DJ Akademiks shares his thoughts about Young Thug’s recent tirade. According to him, the 34-year-old rapper is “disillusioned with street codes,” and these codes might have triggered his meltdown about snitches and the LGBTQ+ community.
“So, Young Thug, in about 2015 or 2016, wore a dress. A lot of people accused him of being a homosexual at that time. He, he never cared to really defend it. Um, I think. People who knew him personally, they were like, No, he's not gay, this is just art. He was not. Actually, I believe the LGBTQ community appreciates even though he wasn't homosexual, they appreciate the openness and really the fluidity of some of the art he was portraying. He had no problem with it.”
Dj Akademiks continued:
“What happened now is that this idea of street stuff, and he's been accused of being a rat, it's now had him really get out of character where a community that I think has been nothing but nice and really a bunch of people and a lifestyle that has nothing to do with what we are talking about, he felt the need to kinda say “Hey listen, if you're this, you're just not a man” because again he is trying to capitulate, he's trying to pander to the people who believe in street morals or codes. I guess the biggest is like, if we're talking about the commandments, the commandment one is thou shalt not snitch, and they're accusing him of that, so he's trying to use every other thing to say no, I am that guy.”
Akadamika added that Young Thug’s crash-out was his way of trying to change people’s opinions of him.
“Doug is no longer getting online to try to argue with the 'streets'; he's trying to convince the internet of something that they've already made up their mind about. 50% already made up their minds, and the other 50% want to be really hypnotized or entertained by the crash out. We want to see if, you know, he dropped a song, he has a particular statute in his plea agreement that says you cannot glorify gang violence, you can't talk about certain things, you can't threaten people in your future music. Personally believe he hasn't dropped music because those are the parameters that could violate the probation.”
“You can't talk, you can't make gangsta music. When people called him a snitch, he dropped a song. His team is claiming it is AI, but no. He drops a song where he is talking about exactly what would violate his probation.”
At the end, Akademiks questioned Young Thug’s thought process and summed it up to ego and a thirst to portray a particular image.
Young Thug speaks about his audio leak
Following his leaked conversations with Mariah the Scientist, where he described GloRilla as a woman with a big head and mouth, Young Thug took to his official X to apologize to the rapper.
Tagging her in the post, he wrote:
“First of all, I’m sorry to u for my words, and I honestly don’t think ur ugly at all. I was speaking from jail, just having a hard time with life.. I don’t like bashing girls and hardly ever did. I’m sorry to u, twin.”
