What is the plot of Disclosure Day?

youtube-cover

Disclosure Day is about a group of people trying to deal with the discovery of aliens. The film's teaser opens with a line, "If you found out we weren't alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?"

It then shows Emily Blunt as a weather reporter from Kansas City who fumbles on live television. The characters then talk about full disclosure all at once. We then see clips of crop circles and chase sequences. Overall, the teaser does not reveal much of the plot.

The film was first announced in 2024 as a UFO story based on Spielberg's own idea. Its shooting began on February 26, 2025, in locations like New Jersey, Atlanta, and New York City. The film's working title was Non-View.

In a January 2025 Deadline interview, Colman Damingo spoke about the film.

“I can’t tell you anything. I will tell you this. I finished reading the script and I bawled. I thought it was one of the most beautiful scripts about our humanity. I think it was just the most beautiful film about our humanity, and I literally cried because Steven Spielberg believes in the possibility of the human beings we could be. That’s what I’ll tell you.”

He added,

“From what’s out there in the world, it is an untitled sci-fi experience. You know Steven’s always concerned about the stars and the moon, so I think that’s what I can tell you,” he says, lacing his hands together."

Spielberg has made several sci-fi films in his long career. This includes titles like E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Minority Report.
