The freshly released The Accountant 2 does not possess any post credit scene.

Even though there is no stinger in the film for any future possibility of a buildup, we have been receiving news about Gavin O'Connor wanting to make The Accountant 3. In the previous reports, the helmer has spoken to Collider about his desire to shaping the film series into a trilogy. It was revealed that the work has already begun, in collaboration with writer Bill Dubuque.

Also, going by how The Accountant 2 has ended, it surely leaves room for immense possibility to be developed into a threequel as well. Adding to that, in an interview with The Direct, a possibility of the return of Anna Kendrick's character Dana Cummings from the OG film to The Accountant 3 was also hinted.

Dana Cummings is the partner of Affleck's Christian Wolff. The character does not make any appearance in The Accountant 2, since the sequel largely centers around the brothers duo Christian and Braxton.

Upon its release, the film has garnered an aggregate of 76% at the Rotten Tomatoes, and a rating of 7.3/10 at the IMDb. Since it has been well received, it will certainly be interesting to see it developing into a third installment.

Usually, an end credits is anticipated for foreseeing a further development in the story, but it might be not necessary all the time. It could also be that, sometimes not having a stinger in the end leaves room for more possibilities. It lets the makers later rethink and redevelop on their approach to its follow-up, or they might not even make one!

The Accountant 2 further explores the story of Ben Affleck's character Christian Wolff from the OG film. It follows the plot of Wolff's quest to figure out the mysterious case of murder, as he proceeds to take help of Braxton, his hostile brother.

Its synopsis, as mentioned by Rotten Tomatoes, is as follows:

Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) has a talent for solving complex problems. When an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to "find the accountant," Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal), to help. In partnership with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.

The Accountant 2 is currently running in the theaters.
