Dolly Parton skipped her Dollywood Hall of Fame ceremony amid health challenges

Amid health struggles, Dolly recently skipped her International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Hall of Fame ceremony. The event held in November this year honored the Jolene vocalist as the new inductee and recognized her role in the creation and success of Dollywood.

Dolly Parton sent a message to her fans about her partnership with Dollywood through a video message. She also highlighted her health scare as the reason behind skipping the ceremony.

“Well, hey there, it’s Dolly, and I sure wish I could be with you in person today, but you probably heard that I’ve been dealing with a few health challenges this fall.”

She further added that her doctors told her to take it easy.

“And my doctors told me to take it easy for just a little while. And I’m truly sorry I can’t be there, but I sure wanted to take the chance to say thank you for this incredible honor.”

Dolly mentioned Jack and Peter Herschend, her Dollywood collaborators, for helping to bring her dreams to life.

“I trust them, and they trust me, and they always listen when I come in with one of my big ideas and dreams. And somehow the amazing team at Dollywood finds a way to make those dreams come true.”

The 9 to 5 singer also skipped the 16th Governors Awards, which happened in November. She was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at this year’s ceremony. She accepted the distinguished Oscar via video message from her home in recognition of her philanthropic works.
