Produced by Pixar Animation Studios and helmed by Adrian Molina, Domee Shi, and Madeline Sharafian (Molina had left the film in 2024), Elio is an adventure and science fiction film. It was released on June 20, 2025, by Walt Disney Pictures. Here is the official synopsis as per IMDb:
Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination, finds himself on a cosmic misadventure where he must form new bonds with alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions and somehow discover who he is truly meant to be.
The film has two post-credit sequences. Let's talk about them in detail below!
Elio has two post-credit sequences
The film has a mid-credit and post-credit scene. The former reveals that Elio Solís and his circle of friends are still in touch with Glordon. This scene hints at a possible sequel and a reunion of the characters. Towards the end, the titular boy comes back on Earth after saving the Communiverse. He is with Bryce, and the two try to talk to Glordon. The ending also establishes that those aliens exist for real.
The film's mid-credit scene is not designed to have a cliffhanger. But it leaves the door open for the protagonist to eventually become the ambassador. The communication between them also hints at a possible meetup between humans and aliens. Our titular hero also goes through a change towards the end after the events.
Besides the mid-credit scene, the film also features a post-credit scene, which showcases a lizard who finds a mobile phone. It then pushes the lizard emoji button that fills the screen with a green color icon. Subsequently, the title Hoppers appears on the screen. It's a direct mention of Pixar's forthcoming film Hoppers, which is in their canon.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Madeline Sharafian revealed that their team consulted Dr. Vivek Murthy to talk about loneliness.
"Everybody's feeling it, and as we were learning more about it as a crew, we started to realize, we're like, 'Wait a minute. I'm really lonely right now.' I think when you find something that, all of a sudden, you're uniting this team on a worthy goal, and we kind of love that we found something that we could all stand behind."
Sharafian added how the film reiterates the different forms of loneliness, universally.
"Every character and every dynamic needs to point back to the same idea. Elio and Olga are both experiencing loneliness within their relationship, and Glordon and Lord Grigon are experiencing the same thing."
The film is playing in the theatres.
