After years of waiting (and one too many Superman reboots), James Gunn’s Superman is finally ready to fly, and the latest trailer proves it’s going all in. David Corenswet steps into the cape with confidence, finally showing off his full power set in explosive fashion.
From laser-vision takedowns to mid-air smackdowns with armored goons, this is Man of Steel unleashed. As we get all ready to meet our new Man of Steel, here's everything the new trailer has revealed about the film.
1) David Corenswet's Superman has laser eyes
Yep, this Man of Steel can shoot lasers from his eyes. It is one of the defining powers of Superman, and we're really glad it made its way to James Gunn's film.
2) First look at Metamorpho's son, Joey
A clip showing Superman in some dimension with Metamorpho shows Krypto and Metamorpho's son in the frame. Joey Mason, aka Baby Joey, is the infant son of Metamorpho and Sapphire Stagg. He inherits a powerful mutation: the ability to transmute the nuclear structure of objects. In the comics, he is kidnapped by Lex Luthor to have Metamorpho betray Superman.
3) Krypto will have some action scenes too!
Krypto, Superman’s loyal superdog, won’t just be lounging around in Superman. The trailer teases a few thrilling action moments featuring the beloved canine. From aerial leaps to high-speed pursuits, Krypto is clearly part of the battlefield.
4) We have a new character...called Mr. Handsome
An unusual white alien was spotted in the trailer as fans rushed to do their research to see who this creature was supposed to be. As James Gunn has now made the revelation, the white alien in question is Mr. Handsome, a creature created by Lex Luthor.
More details about Superman

James Gunn’s Superman isn’t just a reboot; it’s a resurrection. Trading cynicism for hope, the film redefines the Man of Steel through fresh eyes, with David Corenswet donning the cape and heart in equal measure. Gunn fuses soul with spectacle, grounding the alien hero in human emotion. The action? Electric. The tone? Optimistic but not naïve. From heat-vision ballet to heartfelt monologues, this Superman flies on purpose. It’s not just a new chapter for DC; it’s a promise that heroes can still shine without losing their edge.
But the real heat comes from Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, whose chilling voice-over sets the stage for a classic optimism-versus-cynicism showdown. The new trailer smartly contrasts Luthor’s ruthless intellect with Clark’s unwavering hope, giving us a peek at the emotional stakes beneath all that Kryptonian chaos.
Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane brings the grit and charm, while the justice gang, including Mister Terrific, Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl, tease a bigger world beyond Metropolis. There's humor, heart, and hyper-stylized action that screams Gunn’s signature touch.
Ticket sales are already crashing Fandango. And with the movie kicking off the new DC Universe, the pressure’s on. But if this trailer’s any sign, Gunn might’ve cracked the code to making Superman cool again by reminding us he was never supposed to be edgy. He was supposed to inspire. And honestly? We’re kind of here for it.
Superman will be in theaters on 11 July 2025.
