The Spider-Man: Brand New Day anticipation is higher than ever, but the latest rumors about the film are not ones that fans will be happy to learn.

In fact, this might be the only addition to the film that fans might hate. The reason? Fans are convinced that Marvel is bringing in Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi as MJ's new boyfriend. They're also convinced that Esfandi's character will be an iteration of Paul Rabin from Marvel Comics.

Paul Rabin is one of the most hated characters from the comics, because he is anything but evil; he's a kind and supportive boyfriend to MJ in the comics, making it even harder that he's the one dating MJ and not Peter. One of the most frustrating characters in the comics, Marvel might be taking a note and bringing a version of the character to life in Spider-Man: Brand New Day with Eman Esfandi.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day might be making a frustrating addition with Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi reportedly being cast as MJ's new boyfriend

Spider-Man: No Way Home ended on an emotional note with Peter deciding to make sure that everyone forgets who he is, even MJ and Ned, his girlfriend and his best friend, to protect them. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to open right after the events of No Way Home.

Peter Parker will have a lot on his plate as Brand New Day opens up, and the recent reports suggest that this emotional load might be heavier than initially predicted. According to X user Daniel RPK, a notable scooper for all things Marvel, Eman Esfandi has been cast as MJ's new boyfriend, so, along with having to accept that the people closest to him don't remember him anymore, Peter might even have to see MJ fall for someone else.

After the reveal from RPK, fans began speculating about Esfandi's character, and now they're convinced that Marvel is taking a note from the comics and bringing a version of the character Paul Rabin to life with Esfandi. In the comics, Rubin was introduced when Mary Jane was trapped in an alternate dimension and, thinking she would never return, fell in love with Paul and even had two adopted kids with him. The worst thing about Paul? He is a supportive and caring partner who isn't Peter.

Nevertheless, Marvel might not choose to make that reference to the comics and name him Paul, and this might just end up being an incorrect fan theory at the end of the day. Also, there are no official confirmations regarding Eman Esfandi's casting either, so we'll have to hold on to make any assumptions about the casting and the character that he's set to be playing.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to be much more grounded than any of the Spider-Man films, so it will be interesting to see how Peter deals with the fact that MJ might start dating someone else, if that were to happen.
