The first look at Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! is here. The upcoming horror romance film draws inspiration from Mary Shelley's 1818 classic gothic novel Frankenstein. Filmmaker James Whale had also adapted this story in his 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein.

While Guillermo del Toro is all set to revive Shelley's monster in Netflix's upcoming film Frankenstein, Maggie Gyllenhaal has called dibs on his Bride. The first teaser offers a sneak peek into the monster (Christian Bale) and the Bride's (Jessie Buckley) chaotic world. They are channeling some spooky Bonnie and Clyde vibes, setting inspiration for every couple's Halloween costume this year.

Frankenstein's Monster's tale is as old as time itself, but The Bride! puts its spotlight on his companion. The movie is set in 1930s Chicago, where Frankenstein's monster and Dr. Euphronius (Annette Bening) give life to a murdered woman and make her into the Bride. What follows is a wild and radical journey that will change the world forever.

The movie's cast is rounded up by Peter Sarsgaard as a detective, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz as Myrna. The teaser is already blowing up on social media, and Reddit users are praising the cast and teaser for Gyllenhaal's upcoming movie. One Reddit user wrote:

''This is such a stacked cast.''

The Bride!'s teaser has officially announced the arrival of Halloween with Frankenstein's Bride. While the movie is set for a March 2026 release, the teaser is enough to give us all chills, and fans are already excited, especially because of that stacked cast.

Looks like Gyllenhaal has summoned all the top talents for her horror romance movie, which has the scope of becoming the next genre-bender of our generation.

Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale shines in the role of the monster, who channels the creature's loneliness and vulnerability perfectly. While the world has seen many adaptations of the monster's horror, it was about time we saw his vulnerability. Bale's casting has got some extreme fan reactions on Reddit, as one Reddit user jokingly writes:

''I heard that Christian Bale actually died, got chopped up, reassembled then reanimated just for this role.''

Many of the actor's fans believe that he was born to play such nuanced roles as in The Bride! The American Psycho and The Machinist actor is certainly not privy to playing weird and unique characters on the big screen. His latest project will certainly make every Batman fan recall this line from The Dark Knight: ''You either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain!''

After ruling your screens as Batman, Bale is all ready to become the Monster in The Bride! This is what Reddit fans are saying about the actor's casting:

''I'll watch Bale be a weirdo in anything.'' commented one user
''Holy F***ing Shit , Sign Me The Fuck Up !!!! Bale as Frankenstein’s Monster and doing a whole Bonnie & Clyde vibe too, I’m so excited !!!'' another user agreed

Now, coming to the woman of the hour, Jessie Buckley's the Bride. Buckley's Bride is not your typical romance heroine. She is loud, dark, and goth-personified. Like her co-star, Oscar-nominated Buckley has also earned a name for herself with projects like the BBC's War and Peace and Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Lost Daughter.

While Bale is no stranger to such weird roles like the Monster, fans are especially excited to see Buckley as and in The Bride! A Reddit user feels this upcoming movie will surely blow up the actress' career to new heights:

''I feel like Jessie Buckley is going to blow up after this movie. I've been seeing her more and more and she's so good.''

Many other Reddit users also believe that Buckley perfectly fits The Bride!:

''Buckley's mannerisms already look like a pretty natural fit as Frankenstein's bride.'' wrote one user
''I love what a bizarre filmography Jessie Buckley is putting together.'' another user agreed

Reddit fans are raving about the casting of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming film, especially praising Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley, making the release one of the most anticipated. The trailer aptly justifies Mary Shelley's vision and will bring an unexplored facet of the Monster's tale to the big screen.

Catch The Bride! in theatres on March 6, 2026.
