Kendrick Lamar recently released a new album, GNX, on November 22, 2024. The singer's sixth studio album was released as a surprise, without promotion. The album has since then been reviewed by a number of publications, including Pitchfork, who gave it a 6.6 rating out of 10.

Pitchfork's rating of the Kendrick Lamar album has since sent fans reacting on social media, as exemplified by the tweet below:

"They gonna say Drake paid them to say this".

Others similarly reacted to the tone of the review, with some going on to accuse the review of being biased. Contrarily, some appreciated the review of the album and considered it to be good:

"i dont mind people saying they dont like the record but why did this review have less to do with the music as its sounding like a hurt drake fan trying to sound unbiased", one fan stated.
"This is one of the worst reviews I’ve ever read. In my 33 years of life. Wow. If it’s going to be rated 6.6, fine. I don’t agree with it, but fair. At least come up with respectable criticisms. What happened to the old Pitchfork? I know y’all got bought out, but goddamn", another fan stated.
"Calling "Reincarnated" unlistenable and also saying wacced out murals means Kendricks deviating from "saving the essence of hip-hop" has me wondering what you consider the "essence of hip-hop". Don't think you even touched on "Gloria" or the one mic homage man of the garden." one netizen reacted.
"Understanding that music criticism is always subjective and this may not be KL's best album, I see excessive bias in the critics this time. It seems that as much as certain people want to be neutral when it comes to their opinion, the famous beef affected everyone." another netizen opined.
"Good review. The album feels more like a necessary palette cleanser after Mr Morale than anything else to me. But it's good to hear him actually sounds like he's having fun compared to that record." one commenter reacted.
