28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, the second chapter in a planned trilogy and the fourth in the overall franchise, finally has a first look, ahead of its trailer's release. Rolling Stone revealed this in an exclusive story where we can see Ralph Fiennes and the cult of Jimmies returning for this new story.
The follow-up to Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later, which was released in June this year, is directed by Nia DaCosta, who has directed Little Woods (2018), Candyman (2021), and The Marvels (2023). Other than 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, another of her films, called Hedda, is yet to be released.
Speaking of the release, we don't have to wait much for the follow-up to the Danny Boyle film, as it is set for release on January 16, 2026. Besides Ralph Fiennes, Cillian Murphy, Alfie Williams, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson will reprise their roles from previous films.
What do the first-look images of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple reveal?

All in all, there are four new images 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, where Ralph Fiennes' Dr Ian Kelson is seen with his hands at the back. He is the most interesting character in the franchise, someone deemed a mysterious and feared figure in 28 Years Later.
However, he is the most decent character in the film, as the bone structures he built are the sterilized bones, which remain after he burns those bodies. Initially, this man comes off as a psycho, but then the fans will realize throughout the story that he is probably the sanest man on the island. He burns them because he believes that the dead deserve respect.
In another 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple image, we can see Jack O'Connell's Sir Jimmy Crystal, the leader of this cult, where the members are collectively called "Jimmies." He appeared at the end of 28 Years Later, and he seems to be in a major role here.
If you look at him, he already appears to be a chilled guy, more like in a trance and lost in music. But then he also appears to be a total psycho. And it is unlikely that, like Ian Kelson, who first appeared to be a psycho and later was revealed to be sane, this guy is likely to be a proper psycho. Maybe that's why he is the cult leader.
In another image, we can see Chi Lewis-Parry as Samson, an Alpha leader of the rage-virus-infected people. He sure is walking tall.
Jack O'Connell's comment on 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

While speaking to Rolling Stone, Jack O'Connell called this one a "deranged cousin" to its predecessor. He said,
"This film is the weird, deranged cousin to 28 Years Later, who you might be a bit ashamed of because they have weird, questionable interests. We see how much nature is the unstoppable force at the end of the day. Nature prevails. The world will take its natural course with or without humans. But I don’t think the infected are purely antagonists in our film. It definitely will make you consider that."
But this raises the curiosity as to how these infected aren't purely antagonists.
