Play Dirty is director Shane Black's upcoming crime drama, which is all set to release online this October on Prime Video.

The Amazon MGM drama is the latest project to be adapted from a chapter of one of Donald E. Westlake's iconic novels about a professional robber, dubbed Parker. In the past, Jason Statham, Mel Gibson, and more have played the part, and now, it's Mark Wahlberg's turn to star in this role, alongside LaKeith Stanfield playing Grofield.

Apart from directing, Shane Black also penned the script with Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry, who based it on the 1962 release, The Hunter. Thanks to Collider, we get an exclusive first glimpse into the kinetic world of Black's robbery drama, which features Wahlberg and Stanfield.

Let's find out what the photo reveals about their characters, besides the film's release, plot, cast details, and more.

Shane Black’s new film Play Dirty first look revealed

The first preview of Shane Black's new film shows Mark Wahlberg and LaKeith Stanfield as Parker and Grofield, two robbers all dressed up. They seem to be a shipyard, likely to confront their foes.

Don't mistake them for small-time crooks, as the film reportedly shows them engaged in a big heist with international ties.

The image doesn't just show what the two stars would look like; it also hints at the film's visual palette. It shows a mix of bluish greys, maroon and brown shades, taking up the majority of its space. So, it looks gritty and quite fun at the same time.

Apart from Wahlberg and Stanfield, the film has cast Rosa Salazar in a crucial role. She previously headlined Robert Rodriguez's 2022 manga adaptation, Alita: Battle Angel.

Play Dirty marks Shane Black's return to the director's chair after nearly seven years. Before this, the filmmaker helmed the 2018 sci-fi flick, Predator.

MCU fans might know him as the director behind Iron Man 3 (2013). Otherwise, he is known for helming Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), the dark comedic crime thriller, which offered a satirical spoof of Hollywood.

In 2016, he co-wrote and directed The Nice Guys, a crime comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as an unlikely duo. It's a hilarious film, fondly remembered by genre fans, especially for Gosling and Crowe's impeccable chemistry. So, Play Dirty might offer a similar dynamic between Mark Wahlberg and LaKeith Stanfield.
