The upcoming Street Fighter film from Legendary Pictures has finally received its first poster. It features its star-studded cast, which includes Jason Mamoa, Noah Centineo, Callina Liang, Andrew Koji, 50 Cent, and more. The poster shows all their faces inside blocks across two columns, followed by a command at the bottom of the frame. It reads,

"Player select"

Through its old-school graphical look, the poster takes viewers back to Capcom's iconic game of the same name, which serves as the source for this martial arts film. It also features a world map with select countries across, which also looks like it has been taken straight from the game's graphic design. Its style is similar to the aesthetic of 1990s video games.

With this poster, the studio offers a first glimpse into this movie and its potential creative style. Kitao Sakurai, the Japanese-American filmmaker behind the 2021 comedy Bad Trip, directs this film with a screenplay from Dalan Musson, who co-wrote the MCU's Captain America: Brave New World and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The Street Fighter film reveals a first look, inspired by the game's visual design

Legendary Entertainment and Paramount Pictures reveal a first look at their Street Fighter film adaptation, which features its cast with an approach faithful to the game from the Japanese video game developer Capcom. It shows them in each slide, next to who they will be playing in the film. Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li feature in the initial slides.

A Minecraft Movie star, Jason Momoa, joins the cast as Blanka, with comedian Eric André as Don Sauvage and rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as Balrog. Musician Orville Peck plays Vega, while horror-fame star David Dastmalchian plays M. Bison, and SNL alumnus Kyle Mooney plays Marvin.

The rest of its cast includes,

  • Hirooki Goto as E. Honda
  • Rayna Vallandingham as Juli
  • Joe "Roman Reigns" Anoaʻi as Akuma
  • Mel Jarnson as Cammy
  • Alexander Volkanovski as Joe
  • Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki
  • Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim
  • Cody Rhodes as Guile
  • Olivier Richters as Zangief

The official plot synopsis, as per Variety, reads,

"Estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury."

It further says,

"But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s game over!”

Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has finalized a deal to distribute and market Legendary Entertainment's work globally, except in China, where Legendary East will handle it. Street Fighter will be the first project under this collaboration, with Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three being one of the upcoming projects.

Upon finalizing this deal, Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg from Paramount shared a joint statement. Per Variety, it reads,

"Legendary has built a reputation for ambitious, globally appealing films, and we’re excited to be partnering with them. ‘Street Fighter’ is the perfect start to our collaboration, which we believe will be strong and lasting.”

Legendary and Paramount's Street Fighter movie is slated to be released on October 16, 2026.
