The first poster of the 1985 cult classic film, The Breakfast Club, was released. And, we could not be more excited. 40 years after the film's release, Universal Pictures is all geared up to bring it back to our theaters on September 7 and 10, 2025. The film was helmed, penned, and produced by the late filmmaker John Hughes.
This coming-of-age film addressed teenage angst, abuse, the education system, family structures, mental health, and relationships, which still hold relevance in our current times. It follows how a group of teenagers is brought into a detention setting, who open up about their individual stories and vulnerabilities. They show support and empathy to each other in the process, realizing their congruity.
As per Rotten Tomatoes, the film's synopsis goes as follows:
"Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal. The disparate group includes rebel John, princess Claire, outcast Allison, brainy Brian and Andrew, the jock. Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently -- and when the day ends, they question whether school will ever be the same."
Let us know more about the new poster of The Breakfast Club and more details about its re-release.
The first poster of the re-release of The Breakfast Club- and it is so on point
The Breakfast Club is re-releasing in theaters on September 7 and 10, 2025. Four decades since the film's release, this feels like a soft caress on our nostalgia, especially for all the '80s kids. The re-release could also enable the current generation to enjoy this iconic film on the big screen. The brand-new first poster of the film has been released, too.
The movie's poster is an innovative representation of the film. The crude visual aesthetics go well with its theme. It features a couple of student notices, which is the very starting point of the story. It is due to the actions of these five teens and the notices that drove all of them to meet at the detention center.
The student notice in the center of the poster belongs to one of the primary characters of the film, John Bender, played by Judd Nelson. Bender is a defiant teen who has been brought into detention for breaking every disciplinary rule. He did the extreme of it by pulling the fire alarm.
Thus, the poster creatively makes the viewers revisit the cult film's ethos and draws enough attention to rewatch it in the theaters. Notice how the issue date on the notice is cut out with red ink, and the re-release date is etched out.
Universal Pictures, the production house that had also distributed the original film back in the day, has returned to re-release The Breakfast Club to the theaters. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the company's president of domestic theatrical distribution, Jim Orr, says:
“The Breakfast Club is one of the great films about identity, alienation dand connection. The film’s honesty, humor, and humanity continue to connect with audiences of all ages. We’re honored to bring it back to theaters so that a new generation can experience its power on the big screen.”
Along with Judd Nelson, the film stars Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, John Kapelos, Paul Gleason, Ally Sheedy, Ron Dean, and many others. The helmer of the film, John Hughes, also acted in the film.
