Marty Supreme, the upcoming sports-adventure comedy drama starring Timothée Chalamet, wrapped production early this year. Produced and distributed by A24, the film's first poster was just revealed on Instagram by A24 with the caption,
MARTY SUPREME. Trailer tomorrow.
The poster revealed that the film is coming out on Christmas, i.e., 25th December, 2025.
About Marty Supreme
The first look at Marty Supreme features the name, cast, and crew of the show in a signature font, along with a small-sized version of Timothée Chalamet standing in the A of Marty, wearing a USA jersey. It seems like the picture is most likely from a scene when he was at either of the two U.S. Men’s Singles Championships he won.
The upcoming film Marty Supreme is loosely based on the table tennis player Marty Reisman, and the film is set in 1950s New York. It is, however, not a straight cut biopic since it is fictionalized and will not focus on Marty's career. As Deadline reported, the film has an estimated budget of $70 million, making it the most expensive film by A24, which is tied with the budget of The Smashing Machine.
Marty Supreme is written by John Safdie and Ronald Bronstein. Safdie has also directed the film, while Central Pictures, IPR.VC and A24 are the production companies behind the film. Timothée Chalamet is not only starring as the protagonist Marty Mauser, but he is also co-producing the film along with Josh Safdie, Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, and Anthony Katagas.
Other than Chalamet, the film stars Fran Drescher as Mrs. Mauser, Marty's mother, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator, Odessa A'zion, Penn Jillette, Kevin O'Leary, Abel Ferrara, Sandra Bernhard, Spenser Granese, and Philippe Petit. Other than Chalamet and Drescher, the roles of other cast members are yet to be revealed. The film's trailer, which is about to be released tomorrow, 13th August, might reveal the names of other characters.

While we don't know the name of the character Gwyneth Paltrow is playing, she did reveal something about her role in an interview with Vanity Fair. Paltrow spoke about her character in Marty Supreme, saying,
“This woman who is married to someone who is in the Ping-Pong mafia, as it were”
She continued,
“They meet and she’s had a pretty tough life, and I think he breathes life back into her, but it’s kind of transactional for them both.”

Evidently, Paltrow is playing a romantic/sexual interest of Chalamet's Marty, and as she told Vanity Fair, the two characters have a few intimate scenes. This hints at the tensions we might be seeing on screen, as nothing good ever comes from sleeping with someone whose husband is in the mafia - even if it is that of ping pong. Paltrow said,
“I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie,”
“There’s a lot—a lot.”
While the film has a stellar cast, it has to generate quite a revenue to have a good profit margin given its budget of $70 million. Marty Supreme is going to be released in theaters on 25th December 2025.
