IFC Films has released the first teaser trailer for 100 Nights of Hero, written and directed by Julia Jackman, starring Maika Monroe, Emma Corrin, and Nicholas Galitzine in central roles.
Monroe leads the cast as Cherry, an innocent bride to Jerome (Amir El-Masry), a neglectful husband, who finds herself drawn to Manfred (Galitzine), a charming houseguest, and her devoted maid, Hero (Corrin). The cast also includes Charli XCX as Rosa, Richard E. Grant as Birdman, Felicity Jones as Moon, and Safia Oakley-Green as Kiddo.
The film is currently heading for a world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, where it will be the closing film. Later, the Independent Film Company will release it on December 5, 2025, in the United States.
100 Nights of Hero: Teaser trailer released for the new Nicholas Galitzine and Emma Corrin starrer
Julia Jackman's sophomore feature directorial film, 100 Nights of Hero, is based on Isabel Greenberg's eponymous graphic novel, which the Observer praised, saying,
"A feminist fairy-tale... A wondrously intricate book, and a witty attack on the patriarchy, this is an instant classic."
The newly released trailer for 100 Nights of Hero offers a look into its dark comedic world. It begins with an old man demanding the new bride to bear a child within the matter of 101 days. The maid objects to his oddly specific request, but it falls on deaf ears. Hence, the bride is left leading her next 100 days in service of that request.
The rest of the trailer shows the bride being romantically involved with her maid and the handsome houseguest. It offers a sense of her richly layered and passionate world, despite the deadpan expressions.
According to the Venice Film Festival, its plot synopsis reads,
"Set in Darkly End, an alternate world ruled by the despotic Birdman. Cherry is unhappily married to Jerome, who doesn’t want to spend time with her. Considering their ‘duty’ to produce an heir, this is worrying. The only bright spot in Cherry’s day is her maid, Hero. Hero is part of a secret society that collects stories of women who rebelled and met unjust fates, vowing their sacrifices won’t be forgotten."
It further says,
"Because death is never far away for women here. So, when Jerome mysteriously goes on a ‘business trip’ and leaves Cherry with his flirtatious friend Manfred, Hero has a bad feeling. As the charming Manfred settles in, Cherry finds herself caught between the only man who has ever listened to her and the maid she is developing forbidden feelings for. All rebellious women end up dead – can Cherry and Hero escape that fate?"
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the cast spoke about their working experience on this film. Corrin, who plays the titular Hero in this story, said,
“Films like [100 Nights of Hero] are the reason I love my job. Julia has brought the beloved graphic novel to the screen with so much feeling, heart, and vision. Who doesn’t love an imaginary medieval world? Especially one containing Maika Monroe, Nick Galitzine, and Charli XCX.”
Monroe added,
"From the moment I first read the [100 Nights of Hero] script, I was immediately drawn to the story. After meeting Julia and hearing her unique vision for the film, I knew I had to be involved. Filming in a castle added a sense of magic on set, and the amazing cast and crew truly made the project unforgettable."
While speaking about his character, Galitzine said,
"Manfred is an exceptionally charming and Machiavellian man who aims to restore his former honor by capturing the affections of his friend's wife through a bet they make. There is a sliver of goodness within him, but he is very much a product of the patriarchal society he's been bred in."
100 Nights of Hero will be out in theaters on December 5, 2025.
