Bang Bang! Play Dirty sees Mark Wahlberg once again ready for action-packed, guns-blazing sequences. And yes, there’s a robbery involved. Amazon Prime just released the trailer for this crime thriller, which follows a thief facing three powerful enemies: one is the richest man in the world, a South American dictator, and a New York City mob.

The level of stake is higher. There’s a global-level threat, a national-level threat, and then a local-level threat. Apart from Wahlberg, who plays Parker, it stars LaKeith Stanfield as Grofield, Keegan-Michael Key as Ed Mackey, Rosa Salazar as Zen, and more.

The film is based on a book series by Donald E. Westlake, where Parker is the main character in 24 of his novels. If this movie turns out well, there’s a good chance of developing a film franchise based on the books in the future. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves yet.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that although this is labeled a crime thriller, Play Dirty appears more like a crime-comedy. We will now go over a brief breakdown of the trailer.

Mark Wahlberg's Parker is played dirty by a girl in Play Dirty trailer

Mark Wahlberg’s Parker seems to get the upper hand in the beginning of the trailer, but don’t get ahead of yourself. The girl beats him, as you’ll see as the Play Dirty trailer progresses. Don’t always trust appearances, you know.

Anyway, he catches up with her. But before that, there’s a brief conversation between him and LaKeith Stanfield’s Grofield, who often accompanies Parker. This conversation gives a sense of Wahlberg’s character, which, like in most of his films, proves he is skilled and dangerous.

This is especially clear when Grofield responds to Parker’s request to talk to the girl who just bested him. He says,

"Do you mean actually talk? 'Cause sometimes when you talk, people end up at room temperature."

But Parker tells his companion that he’ll be gentle. Well, that’s a white lie, as you’ll see when he confronts this girl, Zen, portrayed by Rosa Salazar. Sadly, she loses part of her ear during this sequence.

Around the 0:55 mark in the Play Dirty trailer, the big reveal happens: Zen is planning to rob an entire country. The target is a treasure valued at a billion dollars.

The final minute of the trailer shows a compilation of exciting shots with Parker going full Mark Wahlberg. He prevents a man from falling out of a window, although the man lands on a police car below.

There’s also a scene where Parker and Zen are in a car he is driving. That is when Zen realizes what kind of psycho he is. We will learn more about him when Play Dirty arrives on Amazon Prime Video on October 1, 2025.
