Whether you’re a die-hard Gryffindor or still sobbing over Dobby’s last scene, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows brought the wizarding world to an epic, emotional close. Split into two films, the finale is packed with heartbreak, heroism, and more magical detail than even a Pensieve could hold.
But hidden beneath all the wand-waving and Horcrux-hunting are some seriously clever Easter eggs, the kind only sharp-eyed fans might’ve caught. From sneaky throwbacks to quiet character moments, here are five hidden gems from The Deathly Hallows films you might’ve missed.
Harry Potter's snitch doesn't open at his touch

Albus Dumbledore leaves behind quite a few things for the golden trio. They seem quite ordinary at first, but as the story progresses, their relevance is highlighted. Apart from the Gryffindor sword, Harry is given a snitch- the first one he ever caught during his first ever Quidditch match.
As a fan, one might be well aware of the fact that Snitches have flesh memories. Which means that it remembers the first person who touched it and might open at their touch. When Rufus Scrimgeour hands Harry the Snitch, he makes sure to cover it with a handkerchief as Harry takes it from him dubiously.
However, it doesn't open at his touch. That's because in his first-ever Quidditch match, Harry didn't catch the Snitch with his hands. He swallowed it. Later on, when he puts it to his lips, the Snitch opens with the message "I open at the close". It finally reveals what's inside it, moments before Harry walks up to Voldemort for his death, and reveals the Resurrection Stone- one of the three Deathly Hallows. Sure enough, the Snitch follows up with its instruction. It opens at Harry's close.
Scabior and the group of Snatchers find the Trio because of Hermione's scarf

When Ron Weasley abandons them in the middle of their Horcrux hunt, Harry Potter and Hermione Granger shift to another forest, and she ties a scarf of hers around a tree- as a signal for Ron to know that they are there since their tents are surrounded by dissillusionment enchantments. Unfortunately, this very scarf leads to the group being caught by Scabior and his Snatchers, who later take them to Malfoy Manor to the Malfoys and Bellatrix Lestrange.
In the clip where Scabior sees them for the first time, one can see Hermione's scarf wrapped around his neck as he asks everyone to snatch them.
Snape disarms and defeats the Carrows before leaving Hogwarts
The last time everyone in Hogwarts gets to see Severus Snape is when he is dueling Minerva McGonagall. One might be too engrossed in Snape's cowardly act of flying out of the building while Minerva attacks him, to notice that before leaving, he does this one thing to ensure the safety of the students.
The only people inside Hogwarts who could do harm to the students were the Death Eater siblings duo- Alecto and Amycus Carrow. In a previous scene, Nevilla tells Harry about how they encourage the Cruciatus Curse among the students and put them under vicious punishments. If you look closely at Snape and McGonagall's duel, you will see how he deflects her curses towards the Carrows, bringing both of them down, and before jumping out of the window, he takes their wands as well, ensuring the safety of the students as his last selfless act for Hogwarts.
After knowing Severus Snape's truth, Harry Potter starts addressing him as Professor Snape
Throughout the franchise, Harry Potter always addresses Severus Snape by his last name- Snape. It's a small detail that highlights his contempt for the Potions master, which only gets all the more intense as the series continues and he discovers more and more details about Snape, especially his history with Lily and James Potter.
Towards the end of the franchise, in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows 2, Harry addresses him as a Professor for the first time in years after learning of his truth and everything he was doing to save Harry. In his last duel with Voldemort, when he is telling the Dark Lord about why the Elder wand is failing him, Harry says,
"When you told Professor Snape it was failing you. It will always fail you."
You might almost miss it amidst the heavy scene and the tension between the two, but it's a sign that Harry has a newfound respect for Snape and no longer despises or dislikes him at all, and understands him finally.
During the Battle of Hogwarts, the trio encounter every major obstacle from the previous films
The scenes right before Snape's death, Ron, Hermione, and Harry are trying to face off multiple obstacles to get to the Shrieking Shack, where Severus Snape is with Voldemort. During their run, they come across all the various obstacles they faced in their preceding years at Hogwarts.
It starts off with a giant troll- a reference to the first film where Hermione gets attacked by a troll in the dungeon; then a bunch of Acromantulas- a reference to the second film when Harry and Ron first meet Aragog's family and are very close to being killed by the Acromantula clan; then they get attacked by Fenrir Greyback- a reference to the third film and Professor Lupin's werewold transformation; then they see Lavender Brown's dead body- a reference to the fourth film and the death of Cedric Diggory's death (which was also the first time they had seen a dead body if you don't count Harry's early memories of seeing his parents die); then they get attacked by a bunch of Dementors who are fought off by Kingsley Shacklebolt and Aberforth Dumbledore- a reference to Harry and his cousin Dudley getting attacked by a Dementor in Little Whinging, and finally they get to the Shack where they see Severus Snape- the Half- Blood Prince, the titular character of the sixth book.
