Good lord, we have an update on the Fockers after 16 years! Focker in-Law - that's what the fourth film in the Meet the Parents franchise is being called. The title was revealed on the newly created official page of the film on Instagram. The caption in the post reads,

"The Focker family is expanding. See #FockerInLaw only in theaters Thanksgiving 2026."

The new film is directed and written by John Hamburg, who co-screenplayed the franchise's first two films, Meet The Parents (which was the remake of a 1992 film of the same name) and Meet The Fockers, besides co-writing the third, Little Fockers. Jay Roach had directed the first two films while Paul Weitz called the shots on the third.

All three films exploded at the box office, collectively making $1.15 billion. However, not all of them were critically acclaimed. Meet The Parents (released in 2000) is sitting fresh with an 85% score at Rotten Tomatoes, and the second and the third hold 38% and 9% scores, respectively.

If you have watched the 2000 film and its two sequels, then the title could give away the gist of the upcoming film. It looks like Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) will now be stepping into the same shoes as his father-in-law, Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro), and will become the 'Focker in-Law.'

The film's synopsis on IMDb reads,

"A young man named Henry, son of Greg and Pam Focker, faces family chaos when he decides to marry a strong-willed woman who appears to be his complete mismatch."

Colin Baiocchi played little Henry Focker in Little Fockers (2010), but there's no news yet about who will be playing the grown-up Henry. However, the IMDb listing might have given away this secret already, which we will see in the section below.

As the film will be released next year around Thanksgiving, there are likely more names to be added to its cast. However, we have eight names as of this writing, according to the cast featured in the film's IMDb page. The characters played by five of these actors are known:

  • Ben Stiller is Greg Focker
  • Robert De Niro is Jack Byrnes
  • Owen Wilson is Kevin Rawley
  • Blythe Danner as Dina Byrnes
  • Teri Polo is Pan Focker

That apart, Ariana Grande has joined the cast, as the Instagram post revealed. Other than her, the IMDb listing shows Skyler Gisondo and Beanie Feldstein in the film's cast.

It is likely that Grande will play the strong-willed woman in the film, as this appears to be a major character. Recently, the actress and singer appeared in the 2024 blockbuster Wicked (2024) as Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo, who played Elphaba Thropp in it.

If this turns out to be true, then Beanie Feldstein is likely to play Samantha Focker, whose younger version was portrayed by Daisy Tahan in Little Fockers.

This leaves us with Skyler Gisondo, who is likely to play Henry Focker in Focker in-Law.

What did Ben Stiller say about Focker In-Law?

Per Variety, Ben Stiller told the crowd at the Tribeca Festival,

"What spurred the idea is that I’m the age that Bob was when we did the first movie. It felt like a mirror to the first film, where one of my kids is thinking about introducing his person to the family."
