The Creature is on the big screen again, and this time, Guillermo del Toro is the one who gave him the stage in his latest film, Frankenstein. As of this writing, it's running in theaters and will be available on Netflix by November 7, 2025.
Although it does well when adapting the source material, del Toro did give it his own twist. The film stars Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, and more, which we will discuss in a few seconds below.
Regarding his vision for the film, del Toro said that,
"What I'm trying to do is take the myth and do something with it, but combining elements of Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein without making it just a classical myth of the monster."
The director had dreamt of filming the story for years and thinks of it as "the pinnacle of everything." He certainly had to think a lot about it, but it is here now, and people are liking it.
Frankenstein cast
Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein

Oscar Isaac plays the main character in the movie, and he is an antagonist, as it has been established for years. Though he does have a more human aspect in the film, even though it awakens a bit later in the movie. Still, better late than never.
Jacob Elordi as the Creature
The tall Jacob Elordi from series like The Kissing Booth and Euphoria is the infamous Creature himself. As we all know about the character, he was always better than his creator. Still, his creator did come close to being a human like him. Well, let's face it, the Creature was more human than him.
Mia Goth plays Elizabeth & Claire

The beautiful Mia Goth plays two characters in this gothic tale. She mostly portrays the love interest of Victor and his Creature's love interest, Elizabeth. But she also appears as Claire, Victor's mother, who died during childbirth.
Felix Kammerer as William
Felix Kammerer plays William in the movie, the brother of Victor. You've seen the actor in the lead role in the Academy Award-winning film, All Quiet on the Western Front (2022).
Charles Dance as Leopold

Charles Dance, who was also in another film inspired by the same story, Victor Frankenstein (2015), plays William and Victor's father. Interestingly, he was again the main character's father. So, that completes the Frankenstein family with this one in the list.
Christoph Waltz as Henrich Harlander

You won't find Herr Harlander in the original story written by Mary Shelley, as this is an invention of the movie. He is Elizabeth's maternal uncle and the one funding Victor's experiment that would bring the Creature to life. The versatile Christoph Waltz plays the character.
Rest of the actors in the film
Other than the mentioned actors appearing in the Guillermo del Toro movie, the following actors also appear in the film.
- Christian Convery as young Victor
- Lars Mikkelsen as Captain Anderson
- Lauren Collins as Hunter's Wife
