Freakier Friday will hit the theaters on August 8, 2025, and ahead of its theatrical release, we get a new sneak peek into this movie thanks to Fandango's Summer Movie Preview. Here, take a look:
As the title suggests, things will be freakier and more exciting this time around when Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan's mother-daughter characters switch lives once again.
The last time it happened was in 2003, when Lohan's Anna was just a teenager, annoyed by her mother, Dr. Tess (Curtis). They starred in this body-swap comedy movie that eventually became one of the defining slice-of-life teen comedies from the early 2000s.
Directed by Mark Waters, Freaky Friday was a commercial success, earning over $160 million worldwide at the box office. It also received favorable reviews for Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon's script, besides Curtis and Lohan's comedic performances.
More than two decades later, the movie is receiving a sequel. The new still from this Freakier Friday shows Curtis and Lohan in a red car, enjoying the ride. However, neither Tess nor Anna is in this picture since there is another twist in this sequel.
What is Freakier Friday about?
Freakier Friday will show Tess and Anna going through an even wilder body-swap experience than before. Per IMDb, its plot synopsis reads:

What to expect from Freakier Friday? Here's what the stars said

During an interview with Fandango, the Freakier Friday stars were asked why people should go watch their movie in the theaters on a big screen. Lindsay Lohan said,
"It's so refreshing to take time out of your daily life to go and escape everything for almost two hours — to laugh, to cry happy tears and sing and just come out of it like you've come out of this movie with an uplifting feeling and an understanding of what it feels to walk in someone else's shoes."
Jamie Lee Curtis further added,
"And there's nothing like laughter to bring people together. When you're in a movie theater and it's legit funny, and people are laughing together. It is the community of a theater experience. There's nothing like it. You can stream all you want [but then] you're laughing by yourself and it's not the same. When you feel the freedom to laugh because other people are laughing."
Freakier Friday is scheduled to be released on August 8, 2025.
