From Toronto stages to 'SNL': How Veronika Slowikowska began her comedy career and rose to fame

Veronika Slowikowska has been announced as one of five new cast members for the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. The upcoming season is set to premiere on October 4. The 29-year-old also co-hosts a podcast called Nevermind with Kyle Chase, and the duo also creates skit videos together.

Although Veronika and Kyle have frequently fueled dating rumors with their playful interactions and close collaboration, neither of them has ever publicly confirmed a romantic relationship, leaving fans and followers to continue speculating.

Slowikowska, a Canadian actress and comedian, has also appeared on a number of shows and movies, including EZRA, Tired, Mayonnaise, and His Parents Never Taught Him.

Sharing the SNL news on her Instagram, Veronica wrote on September 2:

"dream come true 🥲 see you Saturdays @nbcsnl"

Veronika Slowikowska's journey explored

While fans are happy to see her on Saturday Night Live, the actress started her career with the Toronto musical comedy troupe "My Chemical Bromance."

Born in Ontario, Veronika graduated from Randolph College for the Performing Arts in 2015. She went on to appear in several projects, including See No Evil, Viable, Hector, and Sad Kids.

Later, she also earned a degree from the Canadian Film Centre's Actor's Conservatory in Toronto. Veronika first gained recognition for her role as Shanice in the TV series What We Do in the Shadows.

The same year, Veroice also released a single titled So Many Lies, which is available on Heartland's YouTube channel. The video has over 6000 views.

After the hit of her TV series, Veronica was cast in a number of famous projects, some of which include Homeschooled, Middle Sized Things, and EXmas. While her comedy career was gaining recognition, Veronika Slowikowska started a podcast titled Nevermind with her roommate Kyle Chase, which became a hit.

This year, she appeared on three projects, according to IMDb. The title includes Poker Face, Tires, and Get Together-ers.

Her upcoming project includes SNL and The Gene Pool. As of now, she has over 1 million followers on Instagram and more than 600,000 on TikTok, further growing her rising fame.

Speaking with Interview Magazine, Slowikowska also recalled a strange fan encounter, saying:

"I was on a show once and someone pretended to be me and got into the green room? Really scared me. Please don’t pretend to be me. Be you. There’s no one better."
