Directed by Patricia Riggen, G20 on Prime Video is an action thriller that brings the likes of Viola Davis and Antony Starr together on screen. It revolves around a hostage evacuation led by the US President and her family at a global summit. Davis plays President Danielle Sutton while Starr plays Edward Rutledge, the leader of a group of terrorists who infiltrate the summit and kidnap everyone.

G20 presents Davis as a Die Hard-style savior, who does everything in her power to save the day. She uses her past military acumen to her advantage to fight the odds to beat Rutledge. However, there's more at stake since she attends this summit with her husband and their two children. In addition to protecting them, she also needs to protect her reputation.

The script focuses on misinformation as a key factor that leads to this chaotic mess. Rutledge hopes to use global leaders to misdirect what they stand for. He decides to use deepfake videos to put words in their mouths to make people lose trust in them, resulting in anarchic chaos. That inadvertently helps him meet his goals.

By the end of G20, President Sutton gets into a brutal fight with Rutledge when he tries to run away with his crypto wallet. However, he loses his life while she survives the tragedy.

Why does Rutledge infiltrate the G20 summit?

Rutledge is a former Australian Special Forces Corporal, who lost his close mates in a war. He accuses Sutton of her involvement in this war, which took several lives. Still, she ended up on the cover of a magazine that showed her saving a kid's life.

Rutledge wants to expose the similar hypocrisy of global leaders by retaliating against them. That's why he reaches out to global citizens with deepfake videos of their leaders. He urges people to put their money in his crypto wallet, which does not fall under governmental control.

However, Rutledge's team includes people who share his hatred for the leaders but not for the same reasons. Some of them are also part of Sutton's team who join his squad because they disagree with her position or policies.

President Sutton narrowly escapes the G20 summit hall, infiltrated by Rutledge and his pawns. Joining her are a secret service agent, the UK Prime Minister, the head of the International Monetary Fund Elena Romano, and the South Korean first lady. They get over their interpersonal qualms to fight the villain in the room.

Sutton sends South African government agents to protect her children from the attack. However, her husband gets kidnapped by an agent, who joins Rutledge's team against her. Eventually, they all come together when Sutton comes face to face with Rutledge. He compels her to record a deepfake video, which crashes the US economy.

Even after that, Rutledge shoots Sutton's husband and tries to escape the venue with the crypto wallet. He leaves Sutton with two options: either to save her daughter or her economy. Sutton manages to save both by getting into a fight with him.

Rutledge loses his wallet, which includes all the money he stole, and his life. On the other hand, President Sutton survives and resumes her duties.
