Ghost released their latest studio album, Skeletá, on April 24, 2025. The album is their sixth studio album and has been highly successful since its release, charting at the top spot on Billboard 200, Swedish, German and more.

Ghost's Tobias Forge (Papa Emeritus) talked about the album in an exclusive interview with Metal Hammer, which is here quoted via Louder's article on the matter on April 25, 2025, talking about how he wanted to make a different album after Impera:

"I felt super-proud and pleased with Impera. But it was quite heavy on external political influence, critique of social structure. There’s really nothing new to say about that. Fine."

The singer continued:

"So what do I do? Well, instead of shining a light onto other things, I want to make more of an introspective, ‘basic core feelings’ record. That seems interesting! Writing a song that embodies hope, sorrow, regret, hate, love."

The singer later added:

"With most of the things I’ve written, including parts of the first record [2010’s Opus Eponymous], there’s this misconception that they’re about the Devil, and they aren’t, really. They’ve always been about mankind’s relationship with the concept of life and death, and God and divine presence – or absence."

The singer continued:

"Some songs are expressed with more specificity at a certain individual or a certain aspect of society. I just felt that I wanted this new record to be. About being human. Being alive."

Ghost consists of Tobias Forge, Per Eriksson, Hayden Scott, Cos Sylvan, Jutty Taylor as well as Laura Scarborough, and Gabriela Gunčíková. The band is best known for their albums Meliora, Prequelle and Impera.
