Greater Western New York Film Critics Association (GWNYFCA) Awards: Complete list of nominees and winners explored

The Greater Western New York Film Critics Association Awards have officially announced its winners for the previous year. The Greater Western New York Film Critics Association is a regional critics group that represents film writers and commentators from Buffalo, Rochester, and more.

Greater Western New York Film Critics Association Awards' 2024 winners were as follows:

  • Best Film: Challengers
  • Best Director: Luca Guadagnino, Challengers
  • Best Actor: Colman Domingo, Sing Sing
  • Best Actress: Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Hard Truths
  • Best Supporting Actor: Kieran Culkin, A Real Pain
  • Best Supporting Actress: Natasha Lyonne, His Three Daughters
  • Best Original Screenplay: Jesse Eisenberg, A Real Pain
  • Best Adapted Screenplay: Clint Bentley, Greg Kwedar, Clarence Maclin and John Whitfield, Sing Sing
  • Best Animated Film: The Wild Robot
  • Best Documentary: No Other Land
  • Best Foreign Film: No Other Land
  • Best Cinematography: Jarin Blaschke, Nosferatu
  • Best Editing: Marco Costa, Challengers
  • Best Score: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Challengers
  • Breakthrough Director: RaMell Ross, Nickel Boys
  • Breakthrough Performance: Clarence Maclin, Sing Sing

The 2025 Greater Western New York Film Critics Association Awards were led by One Battle After Another with seven wins, including Best Picture and Best Director. Sinners followed with three wins and If I Had Legs I'd Kick You bagged two awards.

Greater Western New York Film Critics Association's official website reads:

"Founded in 2018 as a way to bring the disparate voices from the area together, the Greater Western New York Film Critics Association membership includes writers from daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, magazines and online venues. We are here to amplify each others' work as well as champion the best cinema has to offer each year with regular polls and a year end awards vote."
