"He was never a beast to me": Jessie J addresses rumors that her new song is about ex Channing Tatum

Jessie J recently released her sixth studio album, Don’t Tease Me With a Good Time, and a song from it has sparked controversy between the singer and her ex. The song Threw It Away, a diss track to her exes, has been rumored to be about her former partner, Channing Tatum.

Jessie recently debunked the rumor that the new song was about her ex, Channing Tatum. The Flashlight crooner took to her Instagram stories to put an end to the speculations.

She wrote:

“Threw it away is NOT about @channingtatum. I NEVER said it was.”

She continued:

“He is a Dad and an amazing one and I would never want his beautiful daughter to ever read any of it or be told about it thinking I said it about her Dad. Not fair. Channing and I ended our relationship on great terms and I have nothing but respect for him, he was never a beast to me.”

Jessie J added that she addressed the issue because if “the shoe was on the other foot, he would correct the narrative too.”

In addition to correcting the narrative on her story, Jessie J also discussed the rumors during a new interview with The Guardian. She said:

“That’s funny. Yeah, I reckon there’s probably a little bit of that in there. But it wasn’t just about him.”

Adding:

“I dated a lot of people when I was in L.A. and there were lots of men who were, like, ‘Yeah, ride on my motorbike and I’ll show you around,’ and then they just drop you off. That’s the negative of L.A.”

Threw It Away is the eleventh track on Jessie J’s newly dropped sixth studio album, Don’t Tease Me With a Good Time. The song was released on November 28 and was written by Jessie J, Ryan Tedder, and Marty Maro, with the latter duo also handling the production.

The second verse reads:

“Don't you dare rewrite the story/ I’m the beauty, you're the beast/ You can take your — and go now/ Have a good time in these streets (Yeah)/ So funny, Monday to Sunday/ Think the jokes on me, yeah, yeah.”
