Henry Cavill has finally teased his first look from the upcoming Highlander reboot. The Superman actor will take on the role of Connor MacLeod in the movie, which is based on Russell Mulcahy's 1986 action fantasy film. The film follows the final battle between an immortal Scottish swordsman and his barbarian and murderous immortal enemies.

The original film stars Christopher Lambert, Roxanne Hart, Clancy Brown, and Sean Connery in the lead roles.

A new generation of actors is all set to adapt the Highlander lore, led by Cavill. Additional cast for the Highlander reboot includes Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Marisa Abela, and Max Zhang. John Wick helmer Chad Stahelski will direct the project.

Here is the first look at Henry Cavill in the reboot.

Henry Cavill teases his Highlander reboot hair

Henry Cavill fans were naturally disappointed after the actor departed from the hit Netflix action fantasy series The Witcher. However, the actor will soon take on an equally beloved role of Connor MacLeod in the upcoming Highlander reboot.

Recently, the actor took to his social media to inform his fans about his recent leg injury. The actor shared a cozy picture with his dog Baggins, along with a heavily bandaged foot. The post confirms that Henry Cavill was seriously injured while training for the fight sequences for his upcoming fantasy action movie. The actor appears to be resting well in the company of his dog, but the injury has delayed the Highlander reboot shoot for several months.

In addition to this rather sad update, fans were quick to notice the healthy tuft of hair on the actor's head. A throwback to the actor's The Witcher days, Cavill's hair suggests that the actor is all set to bring Connor MacLeod's character to the big screen again. Since Connor MacLeod was a 16th-century Scottish swordsman and an immortal warrior, the actor will naturally have long hair and a rough look in the film. While fans are excited to see Cavill in the Highlander reboot, this first look has raised their expectations even more.

What can you expect from the Highlander reboot?

In an interview with Josh Horowitz, the actor confessed his love for the Highlander franchise. The beloved story has been adapted to both the small and the big screens, which has naturally raised fan expectations for the reboot. It is no secret that the Superman actor loves the action fantasy genre, and he confessed his love for the same to Horowitz. When asked if the reboot will also tackle some of the themes explored in the TV show, Cavill was tight-lipped:

''I can’t speak to [how much the Highlander film goes into the TV show] at the moment. What they’ve done so far and what we’re doing with the development of the script is extraordinary. I think people are gonna be really, really pleased.''

Henry Cavill has teased that the creators have taken 'extraordinary' measures for the Highlander reboot and the movie will likely blend themes from both the TV show and the 1986 film.

Additionally, John Wick helmer Chad Stahelski's addition to the project has increased the stakes for the reboot. Since action is an integral part of the Highlander franchise, Stahelski's addition suggests that the upcoming movie will deliver in the action department.

Earlier, Cavill's co-star Dave Bautista also teased in an interview with Collider that the Highlander reboot will pay tribute to the original, but is much bigger than the 1986 film. The reboot will also tap into fresh and exciting themes and narrative, which will make it stand apart from the original film.
