Prior to that, it was released in Mexico on September 18. Here's the official synopsis as per Letterboxd:
"After suffering a potentially career-ending brain trauma, Cameron Cade receives a lifeline when his hero, legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar Isaiah White, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife. But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker."
Let's look at its ending.
What is the plot of Him?

The film focuses on Cameron Cade aka Cam (played by Tyriq Withers) who was a successful football player. But his career was halted after a brain trauma. Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), who is a quarterback and world champion, offers to train him at his private compound at a desolate location. Things escalate as Cam begins his training.
How does Him end?
In the film, Isaiah starts training Cam to be the GOAT, which means the greatest. But soon Cam realizes there is a cult in the background, and there is a football club called San Antonio Saviors. Towards the end, Cam ends up killing Isaiah and reaches a stadium where he sees the owners of Saviors. Elsie and Cam's agent, Tom, quickly asks the hero to sign a contract that would make him Isaiah's replacement.
Cam keeps thinking about his father, who was hurt after he decided to step away from sports. But he realizes that the club owners had made a deal with his now-dead father to make him a GOAT. But Cam refuses to sign the contract and bow down to everyone. Cam kills a trainer, which forces all the owners to leave.
This big decision ensures that Cam doesn't bow down to the powerful to become their tool. Isaiah's journey in the film also touches upon the racial history of the United States. Cam decides to step down from a big offer, hence becoming the real GOAT.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the film's director, Justin Tipping, revealed how his first work in television inspired the story.
“My first TV show was my first actual paid directing gig after Kicks, and on the first day, I got a call that my father died unexpectedly. It changed everything. It was horrible,” “But I was back on set in two weeks. I didn’t stop working. So I was physically burnt out [around 2022]. It inspired my [take on the HIM] story, and I saw the correlation between filmmakers and quarterbacks. There’s that question of, ‘How much do you sacrifice until you no longer recognize yourself?’”
The film was released theatrically on September 19, 2025.
