Nanotech is cool, and we all want to be covered by it and fight off aliens from far side of the universe trying to kill half of the universe. But think about a situation where you are in a building covered by bricks made up of the same technology and you cannot even see outside. It's not like you are operating a Jaeger from Pacific Rim.
Brick, the latest Netflix survival thriller, is about this only. A couple gets stuck alongside their neighbors in a building covered by nanotech bricks and now they cannot go outside. Some neighbors get killed, but there are survivors who come to realize that it was nothing other than a malfunction in this technology that caused all of this.
If you like this film, which probably has a low probability of it given its Popcornmeter score at Rotten Tomatoes (28%), then you might want to see these movies similar to Brick.
Movies similar to Brick
5. Until Dawn

To be honest, the video game from which the movie was adapted is far more fun than the movie. However, the film is a one-time watch and shares a similar concept with Bricks, though there are no nanotech walls (neither are there in the rest of the films in the list). But this group of people are stuck in a house where they keep dying until they can survive an entire night without dying. Read our ending explainer of the film here.
4. Saw

Not many films are made on a super low budget and make a fortune at the box office. Saw is one of those movies. There are a couple of men who awaken in a gross toilet with their legs chained and they don't know what's happening. The success of that film bloomed into a full-fledged franchise.
3. Knock at the Cabin

Brick and Knock at the Cabin share a similar concept, as in, the victims here are trapped and the outside world is in trouble. Not just a city or state, the entire world. The only 'possible way' to stop this apocalypse is to kill one of the members of the victim family. This is kind of a similar theme that Yorgos Lanthimos' The Killing of a Sacred Deer plays on. Also, Knock at the Cabin is one of the few M. Night Shyamalan movies that you shouldn't miss.
2. Cube

This 1997 movie is a love letter to Franz Kafka. Over the years, it has developed a cult following among the fans. The entire movie takes place in a structure made up of connected rooms that are simply death traps. For what it's worth, that film will suffocate you and leave you longing for an outside world.
1. 10 Cloverfield Lane

10 Cloverfield Lane comes the closest when we are talking about movies similar to the Netflix film. Here, people are trapped inside a bunker whose owner claims that the outside world was hit with an attack that left poison in the air. Watch the film yourself if that's really true.
