I just wanted to talk about something that is very important to me, and that is Endometriosis,” she began. “Endometriosis is a progressive disease where cells or tissue, is very similar to the lining of the uterus, are growing in the wrong places.” View this post on Instagram Instagram PostShe continued:“It doesn't have a way to exit the body, and it becomes very inflamed. It can grow all over your reproductive organs. They've also found it in people’s throats, which I don't really think anybody has an explanation for, but I think that's a crazy fact, and it is extremely, extremely painful.”Elsie Hewitt proceeded to talk about her personal experience with the illness.“I recently received an endometriosis diagnosis through laparoscopic surgery, which is the only way to formally diagnose endometriosis. I've always struggled with bad periods. The last few years, they've gotten really bad, and the last like 8 months, they've gotten debilitating. I sought out help from doctors over the years, and I feel like I was very dismissed. Was always told that my only treatment options were going on birth control or getting the surgery. I don't like the fact that the only solution to endometriosis is surgery or birth control.”She also spoke about how hard her journey with endometriosis was and the post-surgery pain. She admitted that it had started to get better and couldn't wait to finish healing during the holidays. Also read: Lions fan who was punched by Steelers’ DK Metcalf denies using racial slurs, says "it's not cool" that his family is getting threats
