In Final Destination: Bloodlines, Tony Todd’s final bow as William Bludworth is as eerie and powerful as fans could hope for. After decades of playing the franchise’s most mysterious figure, Todd’s last appearance peels back the curtain on Bludworth’s past and gives the character (and the actor) a moment that feels more personal than scripted. It’s a quiet, chilling farewell that finally gives Death a voice, and Todd the tribute he deserves.

The chararcter has a small but significant role in directing them towards the right path as he reveals how Death chases it's victims and how there are two ways to actually get away from Death's curse.

What is Final Destination: Bloodlines about?

Final Destination: Bloodlines takes the franchise back to its roots—literally. Set in the present day, the story centers on Stefani Reyes played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana, a college student plagued by recurring nightmares of a 1968 tower collapse. She soon discovers that her grandmother, Iris Campbell, played by Gabrielle Rose, had a premonition that prevented the disaster, inadvertently placing their entire bloodline on Death's hit list. As Stefani delves deeper, she uncovers a chilling pattern: Death has been systematically targeting her family for generations.

The film introduces a host of characters, including Stefani's younger brother, Charlie Reyes; their estranged mother, Darlene Campbell; and cousins Erik Campbell, Julia Campbell, and Bobby Campbell. With the help of Iris' journal that has documented all of Death's actions in the last decades and guided by the mortician William Bludworth, Stefani races against time to break the deadly cycle. As the body count rises, the family must confront their past to change their fate.

Iris' journal takes Stefani to a man named WB who knows how someone has cheated on the order and has escaped their fate. The Campbells look for him and finally find him as he tells them the two rare ways Death could be cheated.

He further reveals his backstory, he was saved by Iris during that Skyview incident where he was present with his mother who was performing as a singer. After that he adds how he has been working closely with Iris and has even been helping her with her cancer diagnosis and pills. He later reveals that he has been diagnosed with cancer and doesn't have much time left. With a final goodbye, he exits the screen, leaving the Campbells by themselves to fight their battle.

Tony Todd’s final lines in Final Destination: Bloodlines hit harder than anyone could’ve expected, not just because of what he says, but because of what we now know. When directors Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky filmed the scene, they were aware it might be Todd’s last time as Bludworth, but they didn’t realize just how serious his illness had become. In an interview with Screen Rant, they shared that instead of giving him a strict script, they simply asked him to speak from the heart. And he did. His last quote in the film had him saying:

“Life is precious. Enjoy every single second. You never know when.”

Those weren’t scripted, they were Todd’s own words. Just months before his passing in November 2024, he left fans with a message that feels less like a line and more like a legacy. It’s not just Bludworth talking to Stefani and her family anymore, it’s Todd speaking directly to us. There’s a quiet weight to that moment, made even more powerful by the joy he clearly felt returning to the role one last time. It’s a farewell that feels intimate, genuine, and achingly human, the kind of goodbye only Tony Todd could deliver.

Final Destination: Bloodlines is now in theaters.
