Mexican actress Melissa Barrera took to Instagram to express her thoughts regarding an agency trying to sign Tilly Norwood, an AI actress. She reshared a post from Deadline and wrote on her story:
"Hope all actors repped by the agent that does this, drop their a$$. How gross, read the room."

This is Melissa Barrera's response to an article where actor and comedian technologist Eline Van der Velde spoke about her AI talent studio Xicoia. Velde mentioned how Xicoia is talking to agents who are interested in hiring AI actress Tilly Norwood for their films.
While not everyone is ready to accept the usage of AI in broad daylight. This is what Eline Van der Velde had to say at the Zurich Summit:
"We were in a lot of boardrooms around February time, and everyone was like, 'No, this is nothing. It's not going to happen'. Then, by May, people were like, 'We need to do something with you guys.' When we first launched Tilly, people were like, 'What’s that?', and now we’re going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her in the next few months."
Another former AI artist, Verena Puhm, who recently joined Luma AI's new Studio Dream Lab as head of startup, added:
"I remember having meetings with the studios as an AI artist before joining Luma. Some said, 'Oh, no, we're not using AI.' I knew some were lying, they were already secretly working on some stuff, but some were not open to it at all. Then definitely this year, kind of like March, April, people called me and wanted to talk to me."
Other actors besides Melissa Barrera are calling out the usage of AI actress Tilly Norwood
Melissa Barrera is not the only actress opposed to the idea of introducing an AI actress to films. Many other actors and actresses stand opposed to the idea of Tilly Norwood entering Hollywood, and they have made it clear in the comment section.
Have a look at what other stars had to say.
The Bunker actress, Chelsea Edmundson, commented on Deadline's Instagram post. She wrote:
"Not surprised that the first major 'AI actor' is a young woman that they can fully control and make do whatever they want."
Writer, actor, and narrator, Mara Williams, also commented:
"And what about the hundreds of living young women whose faces were composited together to make her? You couldn't hire any of them?"
Pretty Little Liars alum, Lucy Hale, also has a clear stance on this situation, and commented a single word on Deadline's post, saying:
"no."
American actor and singer, Telly Leung, also wrote:
"Calling this computer program an 'actress' is an insult to all the humans who actually dedicate their life to the craft of acting."
Grotesquerie actor, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, commented:
"Not an actress actually nice try"
Melissa Barrera's criticism of AI actress Tilly Norwood reflects the growing backlash from actors who fear technology replacing real talent in Hollywood. Many stars share her concerns, calling the move exploitative and disrespectful to human performers.
