Leonardo DiCaprio recently honoured the late Diane Keaton during an interview with The Times, published on Monday. The actor, who was named the magazine’s Entertainer of the Year for 2025, shared that Diane and Meryl Streep were among the first celebrities to leave him starstruck during their first encounter.

The Titanic actor described the late actress as the funniest person in the world. According to DiCarpruo, Keaton had one of the most infectious laughs he's ever heard.

“She had the most incredible laugh. It would echo through the entire set, and she made you feel like the funniest person in the world. I mean, burst-out-loud laughing. I’ll never forget it.”

Leonardo said he tried to make the actress laugh every day on set because he enjoyed listening to her.

“I kind of lived to make her laugh every day on set, because it was so infectious. She was incredible.”

Leonardo DiCaprio and Diane Keaton starred in the Jerry Jaks American film, Marvin’s Room. The actress passed in October at age 79.

In addition to celebrating the iconic Diane Keaton, Leonardo DiCaprio also shared his take on the use of Artificial Intelligence in the creative field. The Romeo and Juliet actor doesn’t place Artificial Intelligence on a pedestal when it comes to creating art.

He agreed that AI can be a valuable tool for upcoming filmmakers; however, he concluded that it does nothing for the filmmaking process as a whole, since humans are not the brains behind it.

“It could be an enhancement tool for a young filmmaker to do something we’ve never seen before,” he began. “I think anything that is going to be authentically thought of as art has to come from the human being.”

The actor gave examples.

“Otherwise—haven’t you heard these songs that are mashups that are just absolutely brilliant and you go, ‘Oh my God, this is Michael Jackson doing the Weeknd,’ or ‘This is funk from the A Tribe Called Quest song “Bonita Applebum,” done in, you know, a sort of Al Green soul-song voice, and it’s brilliant.’”

Leonardo DiCaprio continued:

“And you go, ‘Cool.’ But then it gets its 15 minutes of fame, and it just dissipates into the ether of other internet junk.”

Adding:

“There’s no anchoring to it. There’s no humanity to it, as brilliant as it is.”
