Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have fans swooning over the photos from their trip to Greece.
The WWE power couple, known as Paul Levesque and Stephanie, respectively, recently took a trip to Mykonos for some private time. They have been married since they eloped in 2003, and have since become WWE's global corporate co-captains.
As of this year, they have officially been married for 22 years, during which time they welcomed three kids. Former WWE chairman Vince McMahon, who is also Stephanie's father, had infamously banned the two from dating, despite their on-screen “marriage." During an August 2022 episode of the Impaulsive Podcast, Triple H recalled the early days of his romance:
“It’s wild. Our relationship started as a storyline. We always say it works because we had a dry run on TV. We got married, [divorced], and went through everything on-screen. So, we know what it’s all like." He continued, "Almost 20 years now, and I think we’re more in love and happier than we were even back then, which is really cool. Being married to your best friend is awesome."
Triple H and Stephanie's romance explored:
Triple H and Stephanie first struck up a romance on-screen, as part of a WWE storyline in November 1999. At the time, the latter was slated to marry her then-fiancé, Test. However, the ceremony was interrupted halfway by Triple H, who claimed that he had tied the knot with his now-wife in Las Vegas.
During that period, Stephanie admitted to having a poor view of Levesque. In the 2013 documentary Triple H - Thy Kingdom Come, she said:
“We would have production meetings before the show ... I used to think, 'Man, he's so disrespectful.' He would come in his jeans and leather jacket, lay himself out across the chairs, chomping gum and making jokes — very much who he is." She continued, "The second he would walk into a room, I would feel my face blush.
The WWE juggernaut echoed the sentiments in the documentary, as reported by People Magazine:
“That’s the thing for Steph and I. We got to know each other because once we did that angle, we were working together every day.”
Despite her father's initial objections, Stephanie married her beau in October 2003 and eventually welcomed three girls: Aurora Rose, Murphy Claire, and Vaughn Evelyn. The pair occasionally offers fans a glimpse into their lives on social media. However, back in 2021, they caused widespread concern when reports emerged that Triple H had a life-threatening issue with his heart.
As reported by Wrestle Zone, the head of creative for WWE had to undergo heart surgery to reverse the damage of heart failure. Stephanie previously got candid with John Cena about the whole ordeal, noting that she was terrified of nearly losing her husband:
“I almost lost Paul, my husband. And what’s weird, and I haven’t talked about it, is I always had a feeling that I was gonna lose him early. I just had that feeling. And after we got through everything, that feeling went away.”
She recalled feeling like there was a seismic change in her fate at the time:
“It’s like a pattern that was supposed to happen changed. And it was such a gift, truly. But then I started going through all this stuff in the company, and I realized there is nothing more important to me than my family, than my husband and my kids. And that’s what matters most. And I want to give as much time as I possibly can. I’ve given everything I possibly have to the business, you know, and my whole life.”
In the end, she was left with a clearer idea of what really mattered in life:
“And I wanted to give back to them. And that’s when I took that first leave of absence, which didn’t last very long. But I knew what mattered. I know what matters now, and I believe that love is what life is all about."
Per People Magazine, the condition eventually forced Triple H into taking a step back from in-ring competition.
