Fashion designer and TV personality Kristin Cavallari talked about her children on the recent episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast. Cavallari, who was married to NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, shares three children, Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor, with him. Although they parted ways in 2022, they share the custody of their children.

On the August 26 episode of the podcast, she shared her experience of being a mother. She mentioned that she had an easy birthing process with Jaxon, but he turned out to be a difficult child. Jaxon would take naps for 30 minutes and then wake up, irrespective of the circumstances. She said it was also difficult to put him to bed again.

Kristin Cavallari decided to sleep-train Jaxon when he was 16 weeks old, but she said she wasn’t the one to do it. She said when Saylor was born, Jaxon came to her room regularly, adding:

“Every single night for four years, we would bring him back. He would come back. I mean it didn't matter. We did and tried everything and we were so tired because again now we have two toddlers and now we have a newborn baby, Saylor.”

She said that Jaxon shared a bed with Camden, but she still let him sleep with her. Kristin Cavallari said:

“So, when school started, I told Jaxson and Saylor, ‘You guys get one night a week with me. We can't do every other night.’ Because for a lot for a while we've been doing every other night. And I finally was like, ‘Guys, I need a night by myself.’ And yes, I have every other weekend, but you know, it's like I also need a minute to myself.”

Why Kristin Cavallari sometimes dislikes sharing her bed with her kids

Kristin Cavallari said that although she liked sleeping with her kids, there was a minor issue. Since she usually woke up earlier, she had to be quiet while brushing her teeth, washing her face, and getting dressed so she wouldn’t wake them.

She admitted it might seem selfish, but she wanted the freedom to move around her room without worrying. She also shared that having multiple kids made her realize that a child’s true personality showed from the moment they were born, and while life experiences shaped them, their core stayed the same. Speaking about Jaxon’s, Kristin Cavallari said:

“Jaxson is a great a really good example of that because he has always had this FOMO from a really early age. He doesn't really like being alone. And he is my one kid that always always wants to be with friends, wants to be doing this, wants to be doing that. Like he really doesn't like having alone time. And that has always been true.”

Kristin Cavallari shared that when her kids were babies, she strictly followed their schedules, especially nap times and bedtimes. Even after they stopped napping, she always made sure to be home for bedtime.

She noticed her kids were in better moods when they got enough sleep, but when they were overtired, they became cranky and harder to settle. She also explained that she personally liked having structure and routine, so keeping her kids on a schedule worked well for her.
