He was married to another woman at that time and had seven children with her. His mother was of Italian and Greek descent, while his father is African-American. He had a difficult childhood and was eventually placed in foster care. He faced another tragedy when his brother Rodney was murdered right in front of him at a bar. He was only 19 years old at the time.

Sharing about his mother on the podcast, Jason Lee revealed that his mother had a difficult time while she was a child as she was r*ped by her father and molested by her mother. These incidents affected her psychologically, leading her to spiral into drug use. Lee shared on the podcast that his mother’s first drug was cocaine, then heroin, and eventually crack. He also talked about how she turned to prostitution to survive.
