Jesse Whitley, the son of country singer Lorrie Morgan and the late Keith Whitley, recently announced his sobriety following a serious health scare.

According to the reports, the country music artist revealed in a Facebook post on December 28 that he is now sober after a month of hospitalization due to pancreatitis. He wrote:

“A month ago today I was in a pretty rough spot health wise and faith wise… That night, I ended up in the emergency room. It was serious.”

He shared that he was bedridden for about a week and experienced “the worst pain of my life” He mentioned how his faith in God helped in his recovery. He added that his health is now “rock solid” and “faith is stronger than ever.”

Jesse Whitley was nearly two years old when he lost his father to acute ethanol poisoning. He expressed gratitude to his wife Kristen, for

"taking care of me during my downtime and giving me the strength to get back on my feet and go forth."

He also thanked his mother and sister, who stuck with him during his recovery.

How did Jesse Whitley’s father Keith Whitley passed away?

The untimely death of Jesse Whitley’s father, Keith Whitley shook the whole world who passed away from acute alcohol poisoning at the age of 34. According to a report in The Taste of Country, he was found fully clothed and face down at his Nashville home by his brother-in-law after a weekend of heavy partying.

The Country Music Hall of Famer was known for hits such as Don't Close Your Eyes, and When You Say Nothing at All. Other chart-toppers include I'm No Stranger to the Rain and I Wonder Do You Think of Me.

Whitley released four studio albums during his solo career with RCA Records. His final studio album, I Wonder Do You Think of Me, was released by RCA Records, about three months after his death on May 9, 1989.

Jesse Whitley paid tribute to his father in 2011 with his debut album, Kentucky Thunder. His father grew up in Sandy Hook city in Kentucky.

Later in 2020 Whitley self-released the mid-tempo country rocker Try to Change My Ways. He told Billboard in an interview that the moment he heard the song it resonated with him. He added:

“I immediately thought about my dad because anytime I cross that state line into Kentucky, I feel my dad all around. Knowing he had seen the same road I’m driving on. Everyone in his home town still to this day loves him and worships that name. So it’s an odd feeling sometimes driving through his hometown and through those hills knowing this is where my blood comes from.”

Jesse Whitley's recent pancreatitis hospitalization acted as a wake-up call, leading him to embrace sobriety and deepen his faith. He was reportedly admitted to the hospital on November 28 due to severe pancreatitis.

He recently shared his recovery story on Facebook, which has reached out to over a thousand of his followers who also shared their own experiences with sobriety and faith.
