Michael Bay began that live-action journey of these metal dudes coming from a metal planet called Cybertron with Transformers (2007). Soon, they became allies to humans, especially that kid, Sam Witwicky, whom Shia LaBeouf plays.

While it's Optimus Prime who we look up to, whose speeches can get us standing in a theater seat like we are going to war ourselves, there's a lot that fans would want to look into. So we will look at the series' timeline and let the fans know how to watch it in chronological order.

As of this writing, we have seven films in the series, and more might arrive in the future. Until then, here's how you need to go about the sequence, which can be streamed on Paramount+ and Apple TV+ in the United States.

Bumblebee (2018)

The film came out in 2018 and was the sixth installment in the original series that Michael Bay began. Bumblebee, actually B-127, is sent to Earth to set up a base of operations following the Autobots' defeat on Cybertron. This is also when we get to know why our beloved Bumblebee is mute throughout the series.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)

Rise of the Beasts is actually a direct sequel to Bumblebee. While the latter film is taking place during the 80s, the events in the former are happening in the 90s. Here, we get to see that leviathan of a metal dude, Unicron, who can eat a planet. Our metallic heroes are supposed to stop him from destroying Earth, which would later become their homeland.

Now the original one. The 2007 film is where the film series originally began. However, Autobots have already made Earth a home planet, as they cannot return to Cybertron after the war. This is also when the love sparks between our lead, Sam, and Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox).

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

If you want some ancient feeling in this series, you go for Revenge of the Fallen. The film takes place two years after the 2007 film, and our Autobots are up against the legendary Fallen, who were defeated by the Primes in their prime. That happened in 17,000 B.C., and now this ancient piece of metal is back to give the Autobots some hard time.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)

After the Fallen has fallen in Revenge of the Fallen, we are introduced to Sentinel Prime, who was the leader of the Autobots before Optimus. However, this guy has made a deal with the Decepticons and eventually becomes a villain as the story unfolds. You'll hate him, we can bet.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

If you think dinosaurs died of a natural meteor crash in Mexico, think again. Maybe some ancient metal dude tried planting some metallic seeds on our planet, and dinosaurs suffered. Though large robots sure are a threat to people living in cities, it is this film that addresses it. And this is also the first film that replaces Sam Witwicky with Cade Yeager, played by Mark Wahlberg.

Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)

Finally, The Last Knight sees our metal heroes on the run as there's a special force created just to hunt them, the Transformers Reaction Force. Here's our beloved Optimus Prime, who has now become Nemesis Prime. But rest assured, he returns to his 'optimal self.'
