We finally have a fourth film in the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise set to release on July 18, 2025. The sequel comes after a decade, with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt returning as Ray Bronson and Julie James, respectively, from previous movies. As of this writing, the movie holds a 48% critics' approval on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Chronologically, it is the third film in the franchise and continues the story after the Tower Bay murders in the second film. Its synopsis (via Rotten Tomatoes) reads,

"When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they're forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer... and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help."

Though the film's story takes place in Southport, different filming locations were used in reality. We will see which of them were originally used for the movie.

The Southport Community Center, which you see in the film, is Breakfast Point in Sydney. You will see the friends hanging out here in the movie. Other than the 2025 film, this place is featured in The BBQ (2018) too. It's certainly a great place to hang out with some scenic views. Just make sure you aren't visiting this serene place to discuss a cover-up.

Disney Studios, Sydney

Some scenes featuring dark halls and the killer's close-ups were shot here.

Newport Beach, Sydney

Those bloody footprints on that beach in I Know What You Did Last Summer might already have been washed away by the ocean by now. But the beautiful sun-soaked beach scene was shot at Newport Beach.

Paddington, Sydney

The region was used to add more urban touch in I Know What You Did Last Summer. There's a chase scene in the film that was shot here.

White Bay, Sydney

There comes a moment in this story where our hook-wielding killer corners the entire crew. This scary and thrilling sequence was shot at White Bay. You need to watch the movie to see what happens here. Does the killer get them all? We aren't telling you anything.

Watson’s Bay, Sydney

This is also a beachside location used for the cliffside sequences in I Know What You Did Last Summer. Projects like The Tunnel (2011), Water Rats (1996-2001), and more were shot here.

Los Angeles, California
